First IUI - Have Questions!!

GeminiJaiGeminiJai Senior Member Senior Member
Happy New Year, ladies!!

For those of you who are familiar with my story, you know that I'll be having my first IUI with my January cycle and I'm so excited!! I've been waiting over 3 months for this and can't believe the time is already here! I was going to purchase my first 2 vials early this morning but stopped myself because I wanted to make sure I was going the best route, so now I need your help:

1. How many of you chose to join Club Fairfax? I ask this because the cost is $165 and, yes, it includes free shipping for your first order- but I live in the DC Metro area so my Local Courier shipping is only $95 - so that's not really a perk... So I'd like to know what type of specials Club members have seen in 2011 and how many of you did enough IUIs to take advantage of the "6th free vial" member perk? I know Fairfax already has a Pregnancy Pledge for clients who are not Club Fairfax Members (5th vial is free after 4 failed attempts), so I'm wondering who has actually reaped the benefit of ALSO getting their 6th vial free, thanks to their Club membership??

2. If you ARE a member of Club Fairfax, would you mind telling me what the current promotion is for January (if there is one)? I missed out on the 10% that they gave for online ordering from 12/23-12/25 because I hadn't sent in my Terms of Use form, yet.

3. Also, I was curious about everyone's ages and the number of attempts until you were successful? I'm sorry if this question feels like I'm prying but I'm a 32y/o healthy woman so I'm trying to figure out what my chances are in comparison to other women who are going through the same thing/IUI.

Unfortunately, Fairfax isn't open until Tuesday so there's no one in the office this weekend to help me figure out the best path/options. I'm just trying to make the best decision for me financially.

Thank you!!
Jaime

Well i think you know my Story. I am 32 very healthy and have had every test under the sun run to make sure I am ready to be a mommy. My tests all come back "textbook perfect" says my doctor. I honestly thought I would be one of the lucky ones that got pregnant on the first try. I honestly never thought I would be saying this but I have had 9 failed attempts. The scary thing is that I have been pregnant before so it shouldn't be this hard. Like I said I am the same age as you and healthy. I am a member of club fairfax and have saved quite a bit thank goodness. I saved 150 with the first shippment and have gotten two free vials. I have also taken advantage of several promotions as well as the free pregnancy pledge vial. So I have saved well over 1400 in total being a member (not including the pregnancy pledge). I hope that you don't end up with as long of a journey as me but most likely you will try at least 3 times. I believe the average is 4 to 6. So if you plan to do back to back iuis than you will be eligable for a free vial after the 3rd try. Yet most people I communicate with have been at this game for the better part of 2011.

If I were you I would definitely join..what's the worst that can happen. You spend an extra 70 dollars if your lucky enough to get it done on the first try.

Not trying to be Debbie downer just want you going into this with realistic expectations. I wish I knew more before I started.

Thanks, Char! And no worries about being "Debbie Downer" because I'm trying to be realistic. I definitely cannot afford to do back-to-back IUI's so that's not even something which would pertain to me- but I wish I could. I envy the women who have enough money to pay for twice the amount of sperm in just 1 attempt because it seems like you'd be increasing your odds but I just can't do it.

do you pay for the sperm twice and the IUI procedure twice when doing back to back ones?
