3rd round was a bust

Well, today was day 14, and it was a negative... I took progesterone, so no AF yet, but I feel her approaching!
I don't know why, I just knew that it would not take more than three rounds....I guess it is true what they say, if you want to make God laugh, make plans. ;P
I was on Clomid, but without a real difference in my follicle stimulation...my dr. is talking about switching meds, anyone have any experience with something other then clomid that worked well for them?
I have no issues, no PCOS, just a little thinning of the lining from the Clomid,. I only had one good follie on all three rounds, medicated and unmedicated.

    K&B,
It only takes one follicle, remeber that I am living proof. I took clomid 2 rounds than went to injections but I have great insurance and the meds were not out of pocket, had they been I would not have been able to afford them. I have heard that some have taken femera not sure of the spelling and that has worked for them. I think it is a cancer drug that has the side effects of helping with fertility.

It took me four times before I was successful. I thought it would happen the first time and it was 7 months later before it happened, although only 4 iui's because my body did not always produce a follicle. i am now 17 weeks 3 days pregnant and everything looks good!

    Keep the faith!

K&B- I'm definitely sorry to hear that but I'm glad to see you've kept your sense of humour ;)

I'm sorry I can't really offer any help or advice, as I'm still within my first 2WW and won't test til 1/30, but I was curious how many mg you were on with the Clomid? My RE had me on 50mg this time (I produced 2 mature follicles over 20mm) and said he would double the dose next time if it didn't work. Also, if I'm not mistaken, I think both you and I had our trigger about 36 hours before our IUI this time-- and I heard SaraBell say that she got her BFP by doing the IUI and **then** having her trigger shot immediately after her IUI...! So, just some food for thought to maybe discuss with your RE this time?

    Hi K&B:

I just had my BFN too on my 3rd round and I've been MISS PISSY all day ;). I guess it's normal to have a BFN after only 3 IUIs. I'm 43 so my eggs are waaaay old. The other ladies on this forum are so inspiring in helping us get through the hard times. I know we will all be ultimately successful on our journey and pray that God gives us strength, perseverance and $$$ to pay for the treatments.

To comment on the Clomid issue, my RE does not like clomid or its side-effects so I took Bravelle and Menopur (75 iu each so 150 iu total), but you should consult with your doctor to determine the best meds for you. I would also recommend acupuncture and yoga fertility. I downloaded the yoga fertility poses from online: http://www.yoga4fertility.com/yoga4fertility/poses.html. You should ask your doctor if it's ok to try it based on your overall health. My acupuncturist told me to buy a heating pad from the drug store and put it on my abdomen 1/2 hour each night to increase blood flow to my ovaries. I also stopped eating sugar or drinking coffee. I drink green tea in the morning which has about 30% caffeine. Actually, I have been feeling much better and have had less cravings for cookies and ice cream since I started this eating plan. My acupuncturist also put me on a gluten free diet of meat, brown rice, veggies and fruits (no dairy except plain yogurt). I know that's a lot of information but you never know what will help in the 4th attempt. :)

Stay strong and happy. I'm sending you big hugs and lots of good wishes. :)

My partner was on Follistem and it worked very well.

the injections were a PITA, but not really painful... just a little burning for a few min after. My partner is 37 and had no problem getting mature follicals with the Follistem... actually she had to have the dosage lowered a few times throughout the process because it worked a little TOO well. haha
