Smokers as Donors

Hi! I'm wondering if you can tell me about donors who are smokers. All of the research I have done says that smoking decreases sperm motility. What safeguards do you have in place for donors who smoke? Do you find differences in the sperm count between smoking and nonsmoking donors? Is this why a donor who is a smoker has been moved to the Family Solutions category this month?

All of Fairfax Cryobank donors have exceptional sperm quality. Smokers or non-smokers, the laboratories do a semen analysis on each donation and sample the post thaw motility as well. If the specimen quality is below our guaranteed standards, the specimen is not sold to our clients.
The Family Solutions donors are offered at a discounted rate for various reasons. Most of the donors in this program have an excess of inventory at Fairfax Cryobank. Some of these older donors do not have as much personal information gathered as our current donors, such as audio interviews, staff impressions or photos. The lack of available features may make some of these donors less interesting to clients. However, all the donors in this group still have quality sperm. In fact, some of these donors have a large inventory because their high sperm count produced many vials.
Donors do rotate into and out of this category as our inventory requirements dictate, so check the Fairfax Cryobank catalog often.
