I just met with my doc today as well and will be doing the same. I was taking 150mg of clomid for 2 rounds of failed IUI's. I was producing 4 "good" follicles each time, but didn't get a BFP. The doc wants to reduce me to 100mg of clomid and then add either Follistim or Gonal-F on the next try.
If anyone has any advice or experience on this, I would also appreciate your insight!
Thanks.
I do my first shot tomorrow, I will keep you posted on how it all goes!
Good luck to you tomorrow on the new meds, hope it works for you! I won't be trying until the beginning of my next cycle which will be the end of this month.
Good luck, sticky baby dust to you!
I have been reading about injectabiles and I'm ready but terrified I won't respond to them either. I'm 38 and I believe I've got diminished ovarian reserve. My FSH was normal but my estrodial is crazy high. Which is probably a falsely low FSH.
I'm nervous about how the medicine might make me feel...
I understand your concern, I had the same. But when i was on clomid (and i don't know the difference in doses for different meds, but yours seems really low), I was on 100mg and it didn't do much, so we moved me up to 150 mg and i got 4 really good follicles for both those IUI's but still got BFN's. The reason i'm going to injectibles (with 100mg of clomid) is that maybe my follicles weren't great quality and the FSH shots will help with that.
Regarding your concern on how you'll feel, I had a great reaction with Clomid, lots of energy and felt fantastic (wish i could take it all the time!), because of that my RE doesn't think i'll have issues with the FSH shots either. I think it depends on how you reacted to the Femera and that may tell a little. But i've also heard that women that do the FSH shots have less side effects. I think it's just know what they could be and pretty much expect anything because everyone's body reacts different through this process.
Going to an RE is a good thing, they're more experienced with getting women pregnant than the OB's, at least that's my 2 cents and the experience of my friends that have had to go through this as well.
Hope that helps!
Take a deep breath......... going to an RE is a great decision. they will be able to tell you more about what is going on with you. Being 38 does not mean that you have a low ovarian reserve and having a low ovarian reserve does not mean that you cannot become pregnant. i am living proof! I have always had just one follicle produced even on the injections! I however only have one ovary and a low ovarian reserve in that ovary. I am now 19 weeks pregnant today! For me the low ovarian reserve meant that some months I produced something and others I didn't it was a wait and see. I agree with sine4me, the dosage seems low although I was never on femara just clomid and then injections. I was on a high dose of injections. I started at the regular dose and then was bumped to 300 within 5 days. When that cycle didn't work and we figured out I now had a low ovarian reserve, bc that was not the case when I started, I jumped to 450 units each time I gave myself the shot. I had crazy mood swings on the clomid but did not get that reaction on the injections. My family will say that there was some moodiness but more like I was pms'ing all the time... not the crazy anger on clomid. Most people react much better to the injections bc it is normally found in your system anyway.
If you need any support feel free to PM me, I am hear to isten and to give positive thoughts to you in this journey.

So, last night was my 2nd shot of Follistem. I can tell you it is really easy, and the needles don't hurt at all. I am a lot more emotional right now, but I bet it has more to do with the Clomid then the Follistem.
I am feeling really tired too, but I think it is more emotional then anything else. We are in the process of selling our house and trying to find a new one and all that added to infertility=crazy me.
How are you doing? How did you do with the shots? Did you have your IUI yet and have any news?
Today is day 1, so i'll be starting the clomid and shots in the next couple days. I'm really excited about this time, so i'm curious what happened with your experience.
I have a very good feeling about this time around. I'm also doing acupuncture this time around too. Hoping the 3rd time is the charm!
