Tax Deductions
FYI, as long as the amounts are 7.5% (or more) of your adjusted gross income you can deduct your out of pocket expenses for, the cost of IVF, medicine, acupuncture, and any surgery prior to fertility treatments to improve the outcome. I was surprised to know that acupuncture was included! YAY!! Here's a helpful link:

Hey Moe,
i didn't see that you included sperm in the tax deductions. I thought we could use that...am i wrong? -
I'm about to drop my taxes off this afternoon at my accountant. I sure hope sperm counts. Don't forget mileage for all your drives to the doctor - that counts too!
I'll post if I can get an answer from him this afternoon. Not sure that I'll see him -

Yes, I noticed that too. I'm not sure about that. My tax preparer said as long as receipts are from an MD then it can be claimed. I really don't know how Fairfax Cryobank qualifies if at all.....
I will continue to ask around... -
My accountant said that I was indeed able to deduct sperm and storage thereof. I was able to deduct my acupuncture too. Also, don't forget all the miles you drive to/from your appointments, those can be deducted to at the standard federal mileage reimbursement rate.
I keep a spreadsheet of every doctor's appointment, medical purchase, etc. and give that along with all the receipts to my accountant.
Made for a nice refund this year!
