Motility and Quality

Hello All:

Well, we are back at it again for the next round of IUI's. The very first time we did our IUI in November 2011, the quality of the vial was not up to the standards and the sperm bank gave us our money back. The second time December 2011my ovalution was triggered too soon which caused me to have two periods in one cycle and the hospital recognized that it wasn't anything to do with my health or cycle however, we could not get the cost of the IUI back so we had to eat that cost. The sperm sample was better but again missing the mark by a few %'s. It took a few months to get back on schedule after that. The third time around March 2012, we really thought we were finally pregnant however, although the sperm vial was "ok" it was up to the standards of the sperm bank but we noticed in all 3 times .. the sperm vials for the washed IUI was never completely to the hospital's standards. It would be close but never where it should be. So, after a lot of money gone and being a little faustrated with the process we prayed, re-grouped and decided to look at different sperm banks. We have selected a different bank and honestly I have higher hopes with this bank not because I think that the other bank is not good.. but I just feel that this bank may have a higher standard for quality and motility.

When we first looked into this bank I noticed that it wasn't rated really high in certain areas on different websites .. but as we kept researching we noticed that their standards and options are different. The standard for motility is at IUI(intra-uterine insemination)25 million motile/ml which is the highest we found in the industry while other banks are at of 10 million motile as a standard. I understand that more doesn't always mean better but it's not worse either..

What also sealed the deal was we have a couple that are our friends and they had been trying for close to 2 years and not having any luck getting pregnant or staying pregnant. They told us about this bank back in November 2011 and that they had started to use this sperm bank and they are now 5 months pregnant with their first baby.. and it's a boy.

So wish us luck.. I am wishing the same blessings for everyone in TTC mode. It will come!! Your babies are on the way... You have to keep trying and research all options. Do ALL that you can to do what is best for you and your family. We understand that not all sperm banks are the same and for some it's a business but for us .. it's about our quality of life.. having a family and being whole. Put your family first.. and good luck all..

Take Care

Thanks so much Moe.. Much love to you and your family as well. Wishing you much baby dust!! :-)

We are trying Xytex International. We haven't tried them yet but we put in a order for the donor we selected. You can pay about 150 and you can see all the profiles, pictures, health records etc. of ALL the donors on the site for up to 90 days. You also have an option of paying a little extra for the highest motility they have available for that donor you are ordering which I thought was a good option to have. All of the donors are considered to be premium so the average for the donors is about 640 per vial which is about the average if not cheaper then the average cryobanks.

I dont know if this cryobank is going to be any better then the one we tried before however, we just wanted to get a good sample to see if the sperm sample can meet a basic standard firstly and then if we still dont have success then we can look into using medications if needed. Right now we are trying a natural cycle.

We will keep you posted for sure.. Please do the same ..Take Care
