positive opk before trigger

sine4mesine4me Senior Member Senior Member
Hey ladies,

I had a question for you all. Have any of you had a positive opk before giving the trigger shot? I know that the rule of thumb is generally perform IUI 36 hours post trigger shot, but does the timing change when you get a positive opk? I'm curious what others experience has been with this kind of timing.

I'm on my 4th IUI this time and each IUI i've had, I have ovulated before the scheduled trigger shot. The day before the IUI I would feel like my ovaries are going to burst, then go in for the IUI feeling normal again. I thought maybe i was missing my window so this time i got a positive opk at 8pm, did trigger shot at 10:30pm and then IUI in the afternoon the next day while i was feeling like my ovaries would burst. I'm hoping the timing this time was better than the previous 3 IUI's?

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Thanks everyone!
