Yep, it's generally called an HSG (hystosalpinogram), it checks to make sure that you don't have any cysts or blockages in or around for fallopian tubes. Pretty standard :)

I had one last year and will likely need another one soon. The doctors i'm changing to for IVF prefers them to be done once a year to make sure nothing changed.

    Hope that helps.

I had one done when I started the process. It is really easy and painless. Mine took all of 13 secs. No worries.

We had that test and at least one other (can't remember what that was) offered to us before our first IUI, but declined. Since we were starting the process with no known fertility issues, I felt I'd rather just try for a bit and deal with tests if we were not successful in a few months. I don't think there's one right answer, its just what you are more comfortable with. Would it have been a bummer to spend a few months trying only to find out later I had a problem? Sure. But in my case, all was fine and I got a positive on my first IUI. AND I got to avoid unnecessary tests.

    Good luck to you!
