gonal-f

Hey gals,

I had my phone consult with the doctor in New York and I have a question on the amount of gonal-f. I didn't want to ask her for clarity, since she was just giving me a general idea of what my protocol will be, but won't know for sure until I have the new labs and tests done.

The question that I have is, she mentioned 300mg of gonal-f a day, x3 and then she said 3 tens. Does that make sense to anyone? I'm trying to figure out what that means in terms of dosage to see what it is going to cost me. I'd like to start checking pharmacies for pricing.

Anyone have an idea of what that translates to?

Thanks so much!

I have no answer for you as I was on Follistim the last time but doc is changing me to Gonal F this time. My sheet says "Gonal F 375" so I'm assuming the 375 is the dosage. I'll know more later this week when the IVF coordinator calls back but definitely waiting to see if anyone else responds as I'm finding different dosage info online. In fact I haven't even started the meds yet but I think I already have tapeworm! I miss Regan being around as she always had a good food suggestion/recipe!

For the Gonal F, I used the 450 unit which actually has slightly more in it (almost 600 units?) But it also comes in another unit form 1050?? (that I'm not sure of) Anyway, I needed about 3-4 boxes it really depends on your dose level (mine was about 150 units per day) and how it's tweaked. You have to be ready to order an additional box if all the sudden your dose is increased the next day. It's hard to just have "extra" laying around because of the cost. The cheapest retail cost for the Gonal F was about $700 (per box), on average I got about 2-3 doses from one box. Ganirelix was about $650 per dose!! I think I used about 5-6 boxes (my nurse gave me 3 boxes that were donated). Certainly ask about donated meds, these are meds that are leftover and legally cannot be sold but donated.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Moe! Appreciate the information. I just had my labs redone last week and go in this week for the saline ultrasound. Hopefully once all of these tests are done, the new doctor will have the confirmed protocol that i'll do for IVF. Then i'll have a much clearer understanding of the meds and dosages that will be involved.

Absolutely! Once I know the meds and dosages, I'll be looking into donated meds! anything to help when you have to pay for all of this out of pocket!

Thanks again Moe and continued good luck in your pregnancy! :)
