birth certificate

I am starting my first try this month with my donor sperm. I was just curious once I have a success, what is listed on the baby's birth certificate. I am a single mom.

Our daughter's birth certificate states my name as mother and father is left blank. Our state (NC) does not recognize same sex families, so my partner could not be listed on the birth certificate.

    Good luck!! :)

My partner and I had our bby through donor sperm in Washington, DC since our home state doesnt recognize same sex relationships. On his birth certificate, it lists me as mother and my partner as parent! I think what is listed on the birth certificate varies from state to state but in DC, any one can b listed as parent or not.

In California, I will be listed as the mother and father will be left blank. I'm also a single mom.

This is important since if you ever want to travel internationally with your child, you will need BOTH a passport AND the birth certificate to show that you are the sole custodial parent and do not need a father's permission to travel internationally
