Donor 1476?

MillaportmanMillaportman Junior Member Junior Member
Hi there,

I was wondering if there are any other single women or couples out there who are still TTC using donor 1476. I tried reaching out on the yahoo TTC group for 1476 but haven’t heard back from anyone— not even the moderator. So I thought I would try here as well. So far I’ve done two IUI’s using injectables but both were BFN’s. I do have 3 more vials in storage so I remain hopeful. But part of me is really upset with myself for waiting so long to actually start this process. I found my ideal donor, placed his vials in storage for 10 years, and thought nothing of waiting until the perfect time, and now I’m 39 and am afraid I’ve waited too long. I was just hoping to connect with some others who had used this donor for some reassuring stories, advice, or whether they needed to use IVF as opposed to IUI. Also, if I’m unable to conceive with my remaining vials, I would love to purchase any extra vials from those willing to part with theirs. Thanks so much.

Sincerely,

Amber
(Hoping to be a SMC soon!)

Hi, I have a 1yr old from 1476 and will be doing an iui next mth. The TTC group is no longer active but there is a yahoo group for parents of 1476! If your wanting success stories, there are a TON!! Just check the donor sibling registry! 60 registered offspring :) good luck with your journey!!!

Thank you sooo much for your response! It is so nice to finally hear from someone that is still in the process of TTC with this donor. I actually used to be a member of the yahoo group for 1476 (when they first opened so many years ago) but then they changed their policy and terminated my membership once they started the TTC group for 1476, so I have no way of contacting anyone to see if they are still TTC- which has been so disapointing. At the time, I was still in the process of preparing, even though I had already purchased my vials. Now I'm actively trying but there's no one from the group around. I am so happy to hear that you have a 1yr old and are trying again. May I ask how many rounds of IUI you went through before you got your BPF? I am hoping that the 4 cysts I have as a result from my last attempt are gone by this next cycle and that I'll be able to try another IUI by the end of this month. Keeping my fingers crossed! I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you as well and hope you get your next BFP on the first try! :)

I dont mind at all. I did 2 iui's. I took metformin to help with cysts during the iui process. There are still ppl trying with 1476. You cant purchase "him" anymore so most the ppl trying, have a child already. I know there were a few born Last year. I think the group became strict with allowing members bc of how many offspring there are. I believe it's to protect our children's identity. If you do become pg, I'm sure they would love to have you join!!! Keep me updated on your progress! Such an exciting time :)

Thanks for sharing about your IUI's. It's wonderful to hear that it happened so quickly for you! :) Maybe I will ask my RE about taking metformin too since after each IUI attempt I've had to wait out a cycle due to cysts from stimming. I've never had issues with cysts before so it's really frustrating...and the "waiting for them to disapear" issue really isn't helping my timeline considering my age. But I remain hopeful since I've heard of some women who have achieved healthy preganacies through IUI even at an advanced age. It's also nice to hear that if I am successful, that there will actually be a few half-siblings out there that will be close in age to my son/daughter. I will be sure to keep you updated, and if you are open to sharing your TTC#2 journey with me, I would love to hear from you! Take care! :)

I was just checking on you to see if you have had any luck ?! My iui is on hold. I was going to buy vials from someone who has them stored at fairfax but i found out they won't do transfer of ownership on 1476. I'm trying to find a vial or 2 for a reasonable price stored at a somewhat close clinic that I can use! It's becoming a time consuming ordeal ! *sigh*! I'm sure it will work out eventually and if not, it's not meant to be! Keep me updated on your progress! I'm excited to hear some good news!

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that your IUI is on hold. I know how frustrating that can be! I too am on hold- AF has yet to show and is over a week late...so I am assuming it has to do with the cysts, and I can't make an appointment with my RE until AF actually arrives to see if they have resolved themselves or not, so at this rate, I could be waiting another month before I can actually try again. So frustrating! I'm so sorry that they won't allow you to do the transfer through Fairfax, especially considering you already have a child by him. That is so disappointing! I don't know where you are located, but what if you have the vials sent to the patient's home or RE who is the registered owner of the 1476 vials and then have them shipped to either your home or doctors office from there instead? Do you think that would work? It might be a little extra legwork and money, but it may be the only way to access the remaining vials. I can't imagine there are many more out there-although I don't actually know since I'm not in contact with any of the 1476 mothers. I've decided that I'm going to add acupuncture to this next cycle and pray that it works. If it doesn't, then I'll most likely end up storing the remaining vials until I can save up for IVF- one vial for attempting with my own eggs, and if that doesn't work, I'll have one last shot using the final vial with a donor egg. I'm really hoping it doesn't come down to that since I really don't have $50,000 to throw at IVF using DE, but between buying vials, 10 years storage fees, injectable meds, and IUI's plus monitoring... I've already spent over $10,000. It really adds up! So I am seriously praying that this next cycle gets me that BFP! Please keep me posted on your progress. I really hope that you can find an alternate way of getting those vials to you! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

    Update:

Well, AF finally arrived the day after my last post so I went in to see my RE today. The cysts are gone! YAY! :) I will begin my Menopur injections tonight and see an acupuncturist for the first time on Tuesday. Wednesday, I'll have my next ultrasound to see how my follicles are progressing. Have you been able to find any way for you to access the the remaining vials you were looking into? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

So I was wondering . . . have you ever noticed that donor 1476 doesn't show up as a donor "at all" in the Fairfax donor search . . . not even as "inactive?" It just seems odd because another donor that I used to have vials of, I sold back to Fairfax (2226) and he is "inactive" or "retired" but still listed. I also remember thinking it was odd because I had purchased "all" of his information and it was suddenly missing from my order account history. I had to call them to get a hard copy of all the information, photo and audio that I had purchased and have it sent to my home. I just thought it was sort of strange at the time but figured it was a computer error. But if that was the case, surely it would have been resolved by now, especially since there are so many successful pregnancies from him. Just thought it was interesting.

I hope you are doing well and have some good news to share on finding your vials! :)

Hi! Yay for AF! So exciting that you are Ab to try this cycle! I found 1 person that thinks they have found a way to have vials transferred but it's going to end up costing us more than we want to spend once its all said and done. I'm still looking into it though. Oir 1476er is not our only child so we have to decide how much $ we should realistically spend in an attempt to have a full bio sibling for our daughter. I know what you mean Ab all the fertility treatments adding up! We tried treatments including ivf, meds, ect w/my husbands bf moving onto ds! It makes me nausuas to think of the amt we wasted!

Regarding the mysterious 1476...he has overpopulated, been written Ab in papers and has had been the focus of a tv special !! I believe that's why he's "disappeared"! I'm not sure how to send pvt emails on here,do u?

Yikes, sorry for grammar! I typed from my phone and can't see all my message until after I hit send!

Hi there! That's fantastic news about finding a vial that you can get to you! But I'm sorry to hear that it's going to be costly. :( I know what you mean about weighing the importance of factors with cost. Especially when you've been through so much already. It makes an already hard journey, just that much more difficult to naviagte. But I know you'll end up choosing whatever works best for you and your familiy and I know you'll be excited with the outcome!

Wow- ok, well, I knew there were some concerns before about the possible number of children. . . but just not to that extent. I will private message you (hopefully, it will work on your phone) so that it is off the forum. Hopefully, I'll talk to you soon if it works! Take care! :)

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone found out if there are anymore vials anywhere for donor 1476? My husband and I have two children to this donor and (albeit 5yrs later) we are looking to try for number three. We would really love to keep our children biologically the same...but as of right now it is seemingly difficult to find anyone with vials from donor 1476. Please let us know, by replying to this thread, if anyone has any they are not using. :) Praying someone will see this and respond. Peace.
