Great OB in Northern VA?

Hey everyone,

I'm about 13 weeks along, and have an OB I like, but she's a BIT farther from home than I would like and doesn't deliver at my closest hospitals. Anyone in the Northern VA area have an OB they can recommend? I'm hoping to find someone great who delivers out of Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA.

Thanks!

Hi, I have a great OB in No.VA, but they don't deliver at Virginia Hospital Center. Just in case, the practice is Fair Ridge OB/GYN (Drs. Hodges and Zaita), and they are fantastic. They deliver at Fair Oaks and Fairfax. I delivered at Fair Oaks and has a great experience. Good luck!

Thanks! I have heard of that practice, they are very well reviewed online. :)

krossgoblue - follow up question for you - Fair Ridge OBGYN looks like they have a new doc, Dr. Dehal - do you have any experience with her?
    Thanks!

Hi there - I still haven't met her, but a pregnant friend of mine says she's great! She started soon before I delivered, around March 2011. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Congrats and good luck!

That's good to hear, thanks! Hodges and Zaita have so many positive reviews online, but there is very little info about Dehal. I made my next check up appointment with Dr. Hodges instead of my usual OB, so I can start getting to know the practice. Its so hard to walk away from an OB I like but mine is just too far away, especially when I don't feel good. Unfortunately I seem to be one of those women who spot a lot during pregnancy and now that I'm in my 2nd tri, my doc wants me to come in and get checked when that happens, so I'm doing the hour drive to her more often than I planned.

One other question for you since you're local, how did you meet other parents with babies the same age to make play dates with?

Hi there - one great way is to go to the new moms groups that a lot of the hospitals organize. I think all of the Inova hospitals have them. I hope you like the new practice! An hour Drive is no fun when you're pregnant!

Thanks, I forgot about the hospital classes and groups! I'm excited to meet the new practice doctors (one of them anyway) next week. The long drive aside, I wasn't super happy with how my last practice was responding to spotting/bleeding concerns anyway.

krossgoblue - EXCELLENT recommendation, thanks so much! I met Dr. Hodges yesterday and he was GREAT! I still have to meet the rest of the practice, but I'm very optimistic I've finally found my new OB. :) Thanks a million!

Great, glad you liked them. Everyone in the practice was also very 'friendly' throughout the process, and always treated my partner and I with respect. I also appreciated how low-key Dr. Zaita and Dr. Hodges were about issues/potential issues - they seem to strive to keep everyone's anxiety levels as low as possible. Feel free to email me through this site with questions. Take care.
