New here- introduction

Hi all :) Figured I would introduce myself and hopefully get to know everyone from there!

I'm Meghan, my wife Sherri and I have been married for almost 6 years now (well civil union in 2006, then re-did vows in our living room in 2010 to be married due to law changes). We live in CT but will probably move to SC soon (worried about that change!).

In 2007 we did IUI twice without success, then in March 2008 we tried IVF and I became pregnant with triplets! Unfortunately we lost one baby at 10 weeks but the other two held on and were born in November 2008. I was on hospital and home bedrest for 12 weeks but they are so so worth it! They are turning 4 this fall, which I just can't get over, and are amazing. One looks like a combination of Sherri and my mom, the other like me- go figure lol.

I am very open to answering questions and will remember to the best of my friend mama brain ability! We had hoped to have another pregnancy/baby by now but my health has been poor. Hopefully someday we can add to our family and we hope the same donor will be available then- freezing wasn't and isn't a possibility unfortunately. I just applied for the private donor sibling forum- anxious about that!

Looking forward to getting to know the others here :)

My partner and I are just now looking at this site for a donor. It's not easy to pick one! This will be my partner's first child. We would like to do this at home. Are we crazy to spend this kind of money and try at home?

Majority of cyro banks will not mail to your home address, others require a doctors letter to mail to a residence. And the majority of the banks that allow an individual to pick up they too have to have a doctors note.

The price you pay the docotor to do the IUI is not that much money in comparison to all the other things you should have done prior. My doctor charges $225 for the IUI. Doing this at home you would have saved yourself a small fee. Gotta to wonder if you purchased the right type of sperm, did you thaw it correctly, is there something else going on down there that would prevent the sperm from traveling to where it needs to go. Things to all consider when making this very personal choice.

    Hi,
I'm new(ish) here too. My partner and I are expecting our second child (a girl) in December. We have a son who is 20.5m who we conceived using the same donor. My wife carried our son, and I am carrying our daughter. Like others, I'm open to sharing our experiences if anyone has any questions. :)
