My doctor always wanted two vials at the office in case something happened to the first one or it had really low counts, they would still be able to inseminate. If you have only one vial you are really dependent on that vial being perfect. They can do an IUI with a single vial and most of the time that is what I did but I did do back to back some months and I just felt better knowing there was a back-up.

Also, if you really like the donor and he is running low, do you want to have to hunt for another one if he runs out?

Look into Club Fairfax. They often have specials that can make the purchase less painful from a financial perspective.

    Most importantly, GOOD LUCK

There really aren't any questions to ask unless you want to know specifically how many vials he has left. I always purchased two but did it bc I did not want to pay for shipping costs for two vials. I never thought about what if the numbers weren't good..... just always assumed they would be I guess. I never had any issues with numbers. my thought when purchasing the vials, if I didn't get pregnant (honestly always thought it would work that time) and the donor was sold out, he wasn't meant to be the donor. And guess what..... that happened with the first donor I chose and I really liked him. He wasn't meant to be the donor though bc the second donor I chose worked! It all depends on your mindset and what you want to prepare for.

Congrats on moving one step closer!

I'm really hoping my RE will let me do the back to back IUI's and use fertility drugs and be monitored. My day 3 testing came back perfect, which is great except my period still is never on time. Sometimes my cycle is 30 to over days long. Whats up with that? The shortest my cycle has ever been was 28 days and the longest it has been is 43 days. So I'm afraid getting the timing right for this might be very hard.
I would certainly advocate for meds, monitoring, and a trigger shot (not OPK's) based on the variable length of your cycle. Because although your bloodwork comes back normal that's just one small part of the picture. As for your donor running out, that's always a possibility and you should have another choice lined up just in case. In the past I put a 10 day courtesty hold on vials, (at no cost) to give me a bit more time for the next pay period. You can also go on the donor's waiting list should he sell out. Fairfax called me a few times when I was on a waiting list and I was surprised that it wasn't a long wait. It just depends on what they have already stored in quarantine, that's waiting to be released. Just from my experience, I would buy two vials and not one.

    Good luck!

Moe do u know if they will call you if the donor is getting low. I just had my first iui n had to use both my vials. Witch I was so hoping I wasn't going to have to do to the cost of each vial. I dread the crash I'm going to feel if it fails.
Ever feel like maybe your thinking too positive lol ?

I'm new to all this. How much are vials at Fairfax, if you don't mind my asking?

Fairfax won't call if the donor is getting low. If you are on the waitlist then your are called in the order that you were placed on the list.

As for the person that asked about the cost of the vials....go to the main Fairfax website for all this info. The donor profile will have availability, prep types, and costs.
