low sperm count

I had my first IUI on Tuesday and my doctor said they were VERY disappointed with the specimen. I was told there was 10mil with only 35% motility. From what I understand that means the TMC was only 3.5 million. I thought you guaranteed at least a TMC of 10 million. I was really upset as it has taken me 7 months to get to the point where they will go through with my first IUI and everything was finally lined up perfectly and then my doctor said the specimen wasn't good. Can you please explain this to me?

If a specimen’s total motile cells (TMC) tests below our quality standard prior to any additional processing, the physician/clinic must report specific specimen data and submit a complaint within 10 business days of thawing. Notification is to be made by calling 1-800-338-8407 to file a complaint over the phone with our Client Services department.
