Low AMH and IVF chances

EmmaMEmmaM Junior Member Junior Member
I just found out that my AMH level is .55. They told me my chances of success with ivf were very low because of that. I am so sad about this news. I was wondering if anyone else has low amh and what their experience with ivf was.

    Dear Emma,
I send you all my best wishes and support. I know what you are going through. My AMH was .4. I cried over two months for that! And you know what- after 5 months of this process I have come to the conclusion that the AMH is not so important. In my opinion, it's the new flavor of the month thing... I am sure in a couple of years no one will pay attention to the silly AMH, and they will have some other exam that will "be determinant" of your ability to have a child.
I think the FSH is much more important and has been around for much longer. And even if your FSH is high, there are ways to lower it and to work with it. Try acupuncture and dietary changes. Also Royal Jelly is good. And read The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis.
But DO NOT LET FERTILITY CLINICS PUT YOU DOWN AND MAKE YOU FEEL THAT YOU CAN NOT HAVE A CHILD! I really have a big issue with the way US fertility clinic approach us. It seems as it is all centered on testing you to prove that you can't have a child and need to use the most expensive route (IVF, ICSI).
After 1,000 exams it turned out my numbers were not good, except for the FSH that was 9. They even diagnosed a clogged tube. Well, I moved forward and had an IUI (on the month I was ovulating on the clogged tube side). And I got pregnant! I then miscarried, but at least I am confident that I can get pregnant. And it was my first attempt ever!!! Not bad for an AMH of .4, clogged tube and a million other problems they thought I had.
I think doctors just want to cover their butts so they run a 1,000 exams and do not put up your hopes just in case.
All this, to let you know that you can do it! Trust yourself and your instincts, they are so much more important than a lab- that God knows if it was even done correctly!
    Baby dust to you!
