I am new to Fairfax and had my 4th IUI today,,, first time using this donor obviously. I have had two BFPs so far with sperm that happened to have high counts (from other banks). This donor had 12.5 mil today and I though it was a little disappointing. I know it only takes one sperm but I am a little older. You don't know the count until the Dr's office analyzes it. I have very high estrogen today, and three big follicles and one smaller one and having all sorts of ovarian cramping, which is typical when I use meds. I hope this one takes but if this fails, I am going to have to pay more I think and pick a donor that has several pregnancies reported. Mine shows as having pregnancies but I dont know much else. Did anyone else know their counts and what were they and any BFP's result? Thank you

Good morning Krisaz,

I had disappointing counts for my IUI back in November. My count was 10 mil with only 35% motility giving me only 3.5 mil total motile. I did get a BFP however ended as a chemical pregnancy. I ended up switching cryobanks as per my doctor's suggestion. But it did only take one of those 3.5 mil. So hopefully you will not have a problem! Good luck on your 2ww and with a BFP!

I do not know what the motility was... The RE said the lab tech didn't have it written down, only that the count was 12.5 million. I commented to him that maybe that should also be given to patients. Also , another dumb question, the test tube they had the sperm in, had been sitting there for a bit and I asked both the asst and the RE if that affects the sperm, they said no, the sperm was just prepped and thawed and the nbrs wouldn't be affected. The RE was running behind, so who knows how long the sperm was sitting there. He did give me several samples of Crinone since he was late. Ugh.

Fairfax should make the information about the count and motility available for us when we buy the specimen. They mail a sheet with all of it to the clinic, but customers should receive a copy of it when we make the purchase. It is our right to know what we are purchasing, so why make us wait until we are at the clinic to find out?
And if they wanted to be even more transparent, they would make the numbers available BEFORE we purchase. Many banks will give you the information if you call.

And I forgot to add, I inquired as to how many pregnancies my donor has had. They emailed me "Between 1-5"... well that doesnt help me much and I dont know if it's TOTAL pregnancies or ust with IUI sperm. You cant even get an exact nbr.. if this IUI is a failure I may have to spend more and use CA Cryobank (very popular and lots of forums) or upgrade my donor and/or get recommendations from others on which donors resulted in live births that meet my criteria. Thank you
