I am a SMBC who started my journey when I hit my 36 birthday when I realized that while I always wanted to get married and have children. I knew that the getting married part could happen anytime, but the having a child part window was getting smaller and smaller. I started with a different donor, but had to quickly select a new donor after some important medical information was missed by the original facility I visited to start my journey (long story). So at the new facility, I selected Donor 2816 from Fairfax cryobank. I was so blessed with this happy coincidence, after two tries in 2009, I had my beautiful, happy healthy son! When my son was a 18 months old, I found that I didn't want him to be alone in his life journey and since I always wanted a big family, I decided to try again. After four tries, I had my gorgeous and happy baby girl this October. I love that my children have each other so they will always know someone like themselves (donor conceived) but I also hope that over time, they will establish friendships with other donor conceived children, specifically I hope they have contact with other offspring of Donor 2816 so that they can see something of their paternal side.

I am very curious about other 2816-kids' personalities. My daughter is funny, outgoing, a singer, a dancer, very dramatic, and very into cooking, music and crafts. She loves to sit with her guitar or with her karaoke machine and sing me songs, either from the radio or the ones she composes on her own (I need to start writing down the words!) She is also tall and leggy (very much unlike me), she has dark blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes.
I am so grateful to our donor and looking forward to learning more here.
I am so impressed about your ability to have 2 kids as a single mother I totally admire your courage and determination....I have a daughter (from a different donor) that will be ONE in a few days and every day the desire I have to give her a full sibling is getting stronger and stronger. But sometimes I have this worry about my capacity to be a single mother of 2 babies and with a full time job...I hope it's not going to be just too much.
I would like to ask if you want to share your experience about how you are feeling right now and how you manage the all situation by yourself. You are really a role model and I would like to talk more with you about it.
I have a doctor appointment next week with my fertility specialist to evaluate my options and I will go from there, but I definitely know that...if I won't try I will feel terrible and that the joy to see my daughter sharing her life with a sibling somehow overcomes every worry.

I am being completely honest with them regarding their sperm donor/egg donor/surrogate origins. Its a lot but they deserve to know everything. I am very proud of them and of where they came from. Interested in hearing others disclosure stories as well and sharing medical info etc.

Did you recently register with the DSR? If so, I wrote you there, too. Not sure you saw that
I haven't told my daughter much about how she came into the world, but I'm getting closer. She asks more questions now and is definitely interested in siblings. I know she won't have traditional sibling relationships with the other 2816 kids, but there are a few already that we're become close friends with and we love spending time with them.
