3rd Time's a Charm (2993)

blkern23blkern23 Member Member
After a long 13 months and 3 IUI's I'm PREGNANT! I am still trying to be a little cautious as I've had 2 miscarriages in the past. I had my first Beta on Monday and my HcG was 290 which I'm told was EXCELLENT! I went back today for my second Beta to see if it doubled and it was 609. I'm so excited. I go in for my first u/s on May 2 at 5 1/2 weeks to check the location. I will go back at 6 1/2 - 7 weeks to look for the heartbeat. I am hoping this is finally the one and it's looking good so far! Thank you donor 2993!

    Hi Becky,
How are you? Did you hear the heartbeat yet? I am not sure how far along you are now.

My trip was wonderful and relaxing. I got back just in time to start my testing all over again. Apparently, I have been at this for one year, so they had to re-test to make sure nothing has changed. I should start another cycle in about a week. I am moving to injectables. I am also changing my donor. Aren't you happy you're not going through this anymore?:)

    Fill me in.

Welcome back Tamara! I've been thinking about you. I hope you had a nice trip. I know the feeling of hitting that one year mark. Good luck with the injectables. It was strange the very first time but it really was no big deal after that. I hope this time works great for you.

I am doing well I guess. I am 10 weeks. I saw the heart fluttering on the screen at 7 weeks but haven't been back since. I go to the doctors on Thursday and hope to hear the heartbeat then. I don't have many pregnancy symptoms which I guess is good but always worries me a bit. I know it shouldn't and I need to be thankful but I can't help but worry after 2 miscarriages. My belly is growing already so that's kind of cool.

I am so happy I'm not going through that craziness anymore. It's hard to believe after so long. I would wait and wait every single day to get to the next step. The time would go so slow. Now it's hard to believe I'm at 10 weeks already. I hope you get there soon too.

I will be thinking and praying for you this cycle. Keep me posted with your progress as the cycle moves on.

    Becky,
That's awesome news!! You're 10 weeks free of the craziness.

I am at CD1 today, so I'll have to start injecting myself in two days. Yikes!!

    I'll keep you posted.

    Hi Tamara,

I hope your injections are going well. Will you be going in for monitoring soon?

    I can't believe I'm even writing this....

I went in for my 10 week OB appt on Thursday. I was so excited when they were going to do an u/s because I wasn't expecting that. As soon as I saw the baby I knew something wasn't right. I kept saying, "The baby isn't moving" over and over and the tech wasn't saying anything. She tried so hard to find a heartbeat but there was none to be found. I couldn't believe I was doing this again. I really thought once I saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks I'd be fine this time. I had to go in for a D & C on Monday. They will do some testing to see if they can come up with a reason but they seem to think I will just try again and hope for the best. I will follow up in a a few weeks for test results. I wanted to let you know what was going on. I guess I'm not out of the craziness yet after all. I'm hoping to start again by August.

Let me know how you are making out with your cycle!

Becks, I am still "injecting" myself:rolleyes:. I have a tummy "heavy" with folicles.:pMy doctor is monitoring the situation closely. He gave me orgalutran on Wednesday to prevent premature ovulation, because I have one follicle that was 15mm that was triggering ovulation. I was only on day 8. I should have the IUI soon. This will be my first IUI with mature folicles. I should have two viable ones.

We shall see how it goes.

That's great news Tamara. My doctor had given me that med in case I needed to use it but I never have...yet. I imagine it won't be long until you're in your 2ww. I hope with 2 mature follicles this will be it for you! I can't wait to hear...

My doctor performed the IUI over this weekend. My follicles were 20, 17 and 15. I have my fingers and toes crossed.

Other than that I am enjoying the summer, rollerblading and studying a 2nd language. I think these 2 weeks will pass way too fast. Just one more IUI, then I move to IVF.
Keep my posted on the results.

Wow, that's awesome Tamara! You have a chance at 3 little ones!! I typically only made one good follicle which seems to be enough for me. But I was always hoping for 2 so that I had a better chance. That's really great. I hope the 2ww does go fast for you. It sounds like you're keeping busy. I can't wait to hear your results!!

Best of luck and I will let you know what's going on with me as soon as I know anything.

I've been thinking about you Tamara. How are you doing? You should soon be testing, right? I'm anxious to hear about your results.

I got my results back on my little one. It was a baby girl. She had Down Syndrome and apparently more times than not a Down Syndrome baby will end in miscarriage. I'm told I shouldn't really have an increased risk for it to happen again. It also means that I can start again at my second period, hopefully August. They will just start back up with the same med dosage as before. They did take a vial of blood to send out for genetic testing on myself so I should have those results in a couple weeks.

Again, I'm really anxious to hear when you go for bloodwork...and if you plan to test early.

    Hi Becky,
It is sad news, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am glad there is no increased risk of a recurrence.
I am down with the flu, so I feel miserable. My blood work is scheduled for next Tuesday. I have not decided if I will test early.

I am moving to IVF if this does not work so I am in no real hurry. I have my IVF appointment in August.

    I'll keep you posted.

    Hi Becky,
I got a BFN, which while completely devastating is no surprise. My clinic is a rare one that triggers and performs the IUI within two hrs. I felt ovulation 34 hrs later.
I am considering changing clinics, but either way I am still moving to IVF.
    I'll definitely keep you posted.
  • blkern23blkern23 Member Member
Tamara, I am SO sorry to hear that. I was really hoping for good news from you. That is really crazy that your clinic would do the IUI 2 hours after trigger. I have heard a few variations from doctors but never heard anyone do it that way. My doctor will do it 36 hours later which would have been perfect if you felt ovulation 34 hours later. I don't ever feel myself ovulate but they obviously have the timing correct if I've been pregnant 2 out of 3 tries (and I know the one time it didn't work it was due to my follicles). I would definitely get a second opinion. Even if you are moving on to IVF I would find out what their protocol is compared to others since their procedures are different than most with the IUI. It's a lot of money to spend for them to do things completely different and possibly not right.

Anyway, I am really sorry for your news and will say another prayer for you. I'll be anxious to hear how the whole IVF process works and how long that all takes. Keep the faith!

    Hi Tamara,

How are you? Where are you at in the IVF process? I am on Day 1 of my cycle. I am going on Thursday for my baseline u/s and hopefully will not have any cysts. If not, I will start injections on Saturday. I am really nervous this time. I'm so invested in all this and have had something go wrong every step of the way so far so I'm nervous about when something will go wrong this time. Will it be cysts, will I ovulate too early, will my lining not be right, or will I get pregnant and miscarry again. There are just so many ways for things to go wrong and I'm so invested in so many ways and it's so hard to hear the bad news. But hopefully this time I will get bad news from the baseline u/s, to the monitoring u/s's, to pregnancy u/s's all the way through 9 months this time around.

I hope things are moving forward for you!

    Hi Becky,
I am sure this will be it for you. You have gotten pregnant on almost every cycle, so your body is definitely in good shape. I have yet to see two lines on a pregnancy test.I should start the IVF process in about two weeks. Just waiting for my next cycle. My actual IVF cycle wouldn't be till October. I will be on the birth control pills for 14-21 days protocol prior to IVF.

Keep me posted as you enter your final 2ww. The unfortunate thing is that we can only "wait, hope and be positive".
    Take care,
    Tamara
