anonymous or ID options

SharaShara Junior Member Junior Member
I would like to hear opinions as to the importance of the donor being open to contact. My gut was that I would prefer an ID Options Donor because I want the child to have choices. But the donor I am interested in is anonymous. Should I start my search over again even though I have had a lot of difficulty choosing also? or go for it?

Hi SVM, I am in the same situation as you are...I really like my anonymous donor however he is NON ID at 18. I cannot seem to find an ID donor that I really like, unless I go to another cryobank. what did you finally decide to do? ID or non ID?

I have just select a ID Donor. Only because my donor #1, is no longer active. Good Luck! I was lucky to have many donors to pick from, this time around. Now, I have enough vials to began ICI, next year.

I'm also pondering the open ID vs anonymous option, and leaning towards anonymous. The main reason is that, being in Quebec, if I choose anonymous, it's free... But I was also told that on a psychological level, babies born through fertility treatments have usually no issues related to the identity of their biological donor because they were so much wanted and planned.
