Newbie: Mirena issues & vasectomy...so here we are

We're in the beginning steps of looking into doing IUI with a donor. I had Mirena after I had my son (now 5yo from my first marriage) and last year it migrated and caused excruciating pain and had to see a specialist to find & remove it. I have a hystroscopy (?) tomorrow and a hsg on Friday to see how much damage, if any, there is.

My fiancé had a vasectomy from his first marriage (idiot :( ) and they never had kids. So to reverse it costs a lot of money and they can't guarantee that it'll work since there was never a sample done in the first place.

We decided assuming I can still get pregnant a donor will be the best financial choice for us. He loves my son to pieces so biological "needs" do not matter to him which helps us a ton. I just hope I'm not going to have issues and we conceive quickly. :)

Hello. My husband and I also used a sperm donor due to a vasectomy...although my husband did already have kids with his ex when he had it done. He did have reversal surgery twice but neither worked. After that we decided that we wanted to move on to IUI with donor sperm. We didn't want to waist our entire savings plus some on one cycle of IVF knowing that there was a good chance that they wouldn't even be able to find sperm/quality sperm so we decided on the donor route since it gave us the best chance at pregnancy. We now have a beautiful daughter thanks to our donor and we might try for one more in the future.

How did you appointment go? Have you been able to do and IUI yet? I'd love to hear an update. I hope that you are able to conceive quickly(if you haven't already) too! Good luck! :)

Hi Maria! I haven't been on in a while. We haven't done it yet, we're hoping between March and May. It depends on his work situation. I have some anti seizure meds I'm on and met w/ my new neuro in Nov and my fetal maternal meds doc on 12/18. I need to be on 5mg of folic acid for 2-3 months first. So March will be 3 months and we'll start some time around then.

Hi ladies! My husband also had a vasectomy during his first marriage (no kids either) and we decided this would be our best route.
