ethics and using donor sperm

IvettinaIvettina Junior Member Junior Member
Hi all, Im just wanting to weigh in on your thoughts of the use of donor sperm and ethics. Obviously if we are on here, we are open to the use of this alternative method of trying to have a family, however did anyone stop to think for a moment about how this could be viewed by "outsiders" as off the wall?

I tell people it is the greatest gift I will ever receive and that I am grateful to this donor everyday! Everyone is generally very positive. People must save their negative thoughts until after I've left the room, ha.

I tell people and they are very curious, open and accepting. Had only issues with some super religious individuals. I am so happy and blessed by my son that it honestly doesn't matter what they think or say. I can only bask in the love I feel

I'm about to undergo ivf with donor sperm and eggs. I don't plan to broadcast the details to too many people but I already know some won't be supportive at all including members of my own family. That has made me doubt my decision several times. :(

Actually I have not mentioned this process to anyone but my spouse and dr. I went thru IVF in 2012 with my spouse sperm and it failed. Everyone who knew gave me those pity looks and empty speeches. So this time around it is hush hush until I have a baby safe in my arms. It might be selfish But the last round of disappoint about killed me.

I did think about it prior to starting IVF, and decided that since I can't please all of the people all of the time, and I am the one paying the bill, then all I can do is respect the opinions of those who disagree and hopefully they can respect my opinion as well. I then decided to move forward and be happy with my opinion and what works for me. I can truly say, that I am HAPPY and there is not a day that has gone by where I regret my decision.

We don't want to tell anyone. We are just started to look into it. For next year.
