Scared and Anxious

So.. not sure where to start and don't want to just ramble. I'm 37 and have been with my partner for nealy 12 years now. We have decided to try IUI and are just now "browsing" the catalogs for a donor. My concerns (whether they are unrealistic or not) have to do with my age and my eggs! I've been poked and prodded for a few months now. My OB/GYN even decided to do a D&C last month to "better prepare my uterus." LH, FSH, etc all look "perfect" but they also tested my Anti-Muellarian Hormone??? Has anyone else had this test performed? At any rate, mine is apparently WAY lower than it should be. Also, I have, and always have had VERY regular periods... every 29 days with no exceptions for YEARS. I've practiced with the CBE advanced digital OPK, and I've gotten the 0 as well as the flashing smiley face for days on end last cycle, and the flashing face for 6 days in a row this cycle. As a backup, I also have been using the basic First Response this cycle. I'm currently cd19, the this morning's FR was a no-go either. So I'm now concerned that maybe I'm just not ovulating at all? DS is a big financial and emotional investment. Starting to wonder if I'm better off just being an Aunt. Any advice or previous experiences would be welcome.....

Hi there! I am 36 years old and I had the same concerns as you are having. I was having irregular periods and was not ovulating some months. My doctor checked my Prolactin level and it was elevated on 3 different months. She then decided to do a MRI of the brain and found a tumor on my pituitary gland, which elevates the Prolactin. Elevated prolactin causes your body to think its infertile. Now I have to take a medication twice a week to shrink the tumor and keep the prolactin decreased. I had an HSG done also and all was clear. My doctor gave me the ok once all of my labs were normal. I had my third IUI last week and my partner and I are patiently waiting for next week. I hope my experience has helped with what your concerns are. Good luck to you.

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I went into the IUI process having always had regular periods. I am 31 and didn't foresee any problems. I got diagnosed with low AMH and was very worried. We got pregnant on the 2nd try. Moral of the story is: it only takes one follicle. There is no need to worry until you've tried several times. -- Hope this Helps!

Did you have any success with 2974?
  • skeeterbooskeeterboo Junior Member Junior Member
@sarikah- we used donor 2974 for our first 2 inseminations with no luck at all.
