CMV Donor Status

How important is CMV status when picking a sperm donor? I am CMV negative and my favorite donor is CMV positive. Should I choose a different donor?

It's important. Our dr wouldn't perform the IUI unless we picked a CMV negative donor. If you are positive, it doesn't matter what donor you pick.

I agree. My fertility clinic told me I had to pick CMV Negative BUT if I had my heart set on a CMV Positive donor, then it'd be "ok." But I didn't want to risk it so I made sure to pick a negative donor.

The virus can reactivate in sperm. If you are negative and the baby is exposed in utero, it can cause serious health problems.
