Hi there, my wife and I are new to this whole process, and I have enjoyed reading everyone's story! We just bought two vials of our favorite donor and will be trying March 21 for our first IUI! It's so nice to have others that are on the same journey, we don't have a lot of lgbt couples in our group that are trying yet ;) good luck to you all!

My girlfriend and I are currently 37w4d with a baby girl using donor #2474 on our first IUI. I am carrying the child (26 y/o). We used no medication and I have no health problems.

I'm 13dpiui, period supposed to start in 3 days and I've taken a couple tests and they've been negative so far. :( I know it could still be too early but I'm bummed

I'm sorry!!! Don't let it bum you out. There's always next month. Stay positive, it'll work out. I had to send the tank back again for feb, it was a no go month too. So this month I'm increasing dosage of clomid and hopefully will try again in April.

I finally got a positive ovulation today! I was ecstatic when I saw that smiley face. It's been since December that I last saw one. So hopefully everything will play out the same next month and we can try again! ;-)

Good morning! I am new here and just looking to find SOMEONE to talk to about this process since we have decided to not tell anyone that we are trying yet. I am 32 (33 in June) and my partner is 40. We are also doing our first round of IUI. I start a round of Clomid tomorrow, and I will have the trigger shot as well. Our sperm is ordered so now we just hurry up and wait...and if this waiting/anticipation is any indication then the tww is going to make me insane!! I feel for the ladies in this thread that have had recent disappointments, and I hope for all of you that next month is *THE* month. *hugs* :)

Our first IUI was today. We chose donor 4610 The total motile count was 15 million. Our doctor wasn't happy with the count as he says it should have been much higher, but he says that happens sometimes when you freeze and then thaw the sperm. It is above Fairfax's quality standard of 10 million, so we are hoping it's enough. Now the tough two week wait begins...although we've been reading and have seen that some people show a positive on a home pregnancy test after eight days. So we are trying to decide when to test. Our doctor said a home test was fine and a blood test wasn't necessary until after a missed period. Any advice on when to start testing? Positive thoughts and energy would be greatly appreciated!

Shanaandkate, Our first IUI was this morning. Thankfully our motile count was over 30 million. We originally planned on doing the trigger shot, but didn't need it since I ovulated on my own. The Dr said without the trigger shot we could test as early as 10 days after since there would be no lingering HCG to give a false positive. He did also say that we could get a negative at that point even if we were actually pregnant, but he knows how anxious we are. lol. Good luck to you and your partner!!

Thanks, CarebearSml! Good luck to you both, too!!! Keep us updated!

Hi ShanandKate, we had our first IUI on May 3 and found out on Monday that it didn't work this first time. I took a HPT on 8dpo and it was waaaay to early. Even though I knew it was too early, it still caused unnecessary heart ache. I think next time I am going to try to wait until 12dpo, since my luteal phase is about 14 days. Good luck!!!

I have to agree with this too. I tested too early and got a bfn, but It turned out I was implanting that day and on the day of the missed period I got a bfp! I went for my blood test today. This was our first try. Doc had me on 5 days of letrozole then ovidrel. I'm so nervous because I really thought I had a month or 2 before it would work. Never in a million did we think we'd get pregnant first try.

I feel like I haven't posted in forever! Thank you to every one for coming on here and keeping the conversation up too, we took two months off to save up the money honestly, and I needed a tiny break. We are starting again this cycle which should start in about 5 days. We're going to use the same donor as last time because I was really happy with his count and the reviews of women using those vials. Anyway, I'll keep updating through this cycle and hopefully 3rd times the charm!!!
  • RS408RS408 Junior Member Junior Member
Good luck @vmasterson91! I know what you mean about a break. Even the week between period and starting to test for ovulation is a nice break... Not having to rush to pee on a stick :) or temp religiously. I am on CD12 and will start OPKs tomorrow (Mine is usually longer, like 18 days). Then headed to IUI#2!
  • CarebearSmlCarebearSml Junior Member Junior Member
Good luck, vmasterson91! I hope the break is exactly what you needed to make this time *THE* time. :) Our tww ends on Thursday. I have resisted doing a HPT, but the suspense is killing me! lol. If this round was not successful then we have discussed possibly taking 2 months off because we are also in the last stages of planning our wedding. (We are getting married in Chicago over Labor Day weekend) Talk about STRESS!! Ha. I think we may be slightly insane at this point!
