Hi HTGN! Best of luck with the IVF process, it's an emotional roller coaster, but hoping for the best possible outcomes for you. Will have my next transfer in early May - will be transferring my last two embryos - two boys. Fingers crossed, will keep you updated on how it goes.

    Hey all!

I've had a couple ask, so I thought I share the results of the first half of my IVF cycle. I'm half way through, I'm now starting the second half with my embryo transfer scheduled for the end of June. The results of my retrieval: 18 eggs retrieved of which 18 were mature, 17 fertilized normally, 11 made it to day 3, and 6 to day 5/6. Just so you know, they expect about 20-40% to be viable from what was retrieved. A lot of changes occurs between day 3-6. That's when you really start to lose embryos. All 6 were biopsied (for PGS testing) and froze.

The PGS results came back today, 3 embryos came back normal and viable. I asked for their opinion on how they felt I did; they indicated this is great news especially given my age (40). They are pleased with the results. I was told I have a very good chance of becoming pregnant with quality of these embryos. Btw, their gender's are: 1 boy and 2 girls!

So far, pleased with the results. Can't wait for June. :)

    Congrats to everyone!

In other news my wife and I's latest round of IUI with 4991 (after surgery to remove a large cyst in March) is a tentative positive after two weeks with a 187 hCG. So fingers crossed that it sticks.

I know this is a long shot...but my wife and I have a beautiful baby girl that is 3 months old. We would like to have at least one more and have them be full siblings, but 4991 is not active anymore. Does anyone have a vial from this donor that we could buy??

Oh that's exciting :) Good luck! Rest that first day (and the second if you want) but remember after that it is out of your hands. I know that during that two week wait I analyzed everything that I did - (1) Did I exert myself too much? (2) Did my sneezing ruin it? (3) Did I not drink enough warm teas and soups? (4) Did I cause myself too much anxiety by testing too early? Needless to say, I drove myself crazy. The second time around I refused to test until beta day and just reminded myself it was beyond my control.

Kickback, relax, and good luck! I'm hoping beyond hope for you :)

Thank you so much Mrccjf, I really appreciate it. It has been a long year and as you know very well, this IVF process has been extremely looooong. Everything went well with the placement and embryo, post thaw, and now I wait. I have had cramping and dull pain in the back every since but I don't know if it's butt shots starting to get to me or the hcg that the embryo immediately releases.

I'm relaxing as much as possible. Looking forward to testing. How is everything with you. Have you learned whether you're carrying one or two?

We transferred two - and my HCG levels were really high - but I am only carrying one. At the first ultrasound it showed that both had implanted, but the second embryo had failed to continue to develop. I think that's one reason they encourage people not to test too early because often times we have these "chemical" pregnancies. So in the end, one of my three PGS-tested embryos took (failed single embryo transfer and then a singleton pregnancy from a double embryo transfer).

Keeping my fingers crossed for you! When is your beta?

Mrccjf, I'm so happy that it happened for you finally. Especially the added expenses. You and your wife have been through a lot. I know exactly where you're coming from. You may have had a few more IUI attempts than me, but I've definitely had my share of unexpected expenses, especially with a recent surgery and MRI.

I had blood test today but simply to test my estrogen and progesterone levels which, were really good. My blood test to check for pregnancy is next Friday. So far, I'm a day late. They say, you feel like your period is coming but it never comes. Well, my body is pretty regular. I also monitor with an app. Well, those feelings came (when scheduled) and now they've went away. I've never had that feeling go away so quickly. The nurse I saw today, was very confident that it wouldn't come. This doctor's success rate is over 80%. MY fertility clinic is very meticulous and are extremely picky about results and will adjust meds accordingly. If all goes well, I'll be with them until my 10th week.

Going with a fertility clinic, best decision I made.

Did you do a medicated or unmedicated cycle?
  • Sheryl
    Sheryl Senior Member Senior Member
I did IVF. I've never heard of IVF without using meds. Is that a thing? There was A LOT of medications with the process. I would say I've been on 7 different injectable medications and a handful of oral. At the current moment I'm currently on 2 injectable meds (estrogen and progesterone) and other another progesterone pill.

The injections are twice daily and three times on Thursdays and Sundays. The needle is the size of the needle used for the trigger shot. I get it in the back side. I'm so bruise and it draws blood every time. At first it didn't hurt, now, very much so. I would take it through the 10th week of pregnancy. Extra protection and care for the baby. Are you doing something similar?
