Anne- I'm so sorry to hear about your BFN but glad to see you're moving forward with your next cycle!

Littlepete- Looks like we'll be 2WW buddies! I went in for my sonogram and blood work this morning and had 3 follies (2 in right ovary- 23mm & 26mm, and 1 in the left- 16mm), so I'm good to go for my first IUI at 9am on Tuesday. I'm supposed to trigger tonight between 6-12pm... Does anyone know when the exact best "time" during that window??

As for the pineapple, I've heard you're supposed to eat a small piece of the core for the first 5 days following IUI to help with implantation... Not sure if it works or not, though I'm pretty sure Robin followed that recommendation and got a BFP with her 4th IUI.

    Thanks!
    Jaime

Thanks Jaime! Will pu my pineapple core tomorrow and hope for a BFP and that this 2WW does not make me nuts.
  • robinrobin Senior Member Senior Member
    Pete,
For the pineapple. You take just the core.....cut it into 5pieces and eat a poece each night. Do not eat the rest of the pineapple give it to someone else. I did eat the core for my last iui alontg with acupuncture and got my bfp. The chemicals in the core are supposed to help with implantation. My acupuncturist told me there is no scientific proof but also said it wouldn't hurt! Don't eat any more pineapple though cause I've heard too much can do the opposite! Just one little piece of the core for 5 days! Good luck!

    Anne,
I am so sorry to hear about your bfn! :( know that I am thinking about you and praying for you.

    jamie,
Sending both you and little pete lots of baby dust!

Officially in my first 2WW today! I triggered around 9pm on Sunday 1/15 and then had the procedure done around 11am this morning 1/17. Maybe it's just me being a first-timer but... did anyone else have the urge to stay in an elevated position on that table for as long as possible?? And, did anyone else get emotional afterward? I lay there for about 15-20mins, just thinking about the magnitude of everything... I let one tear slip while I was there, and then got choked up as I was driving home from the office. This is going to be a long two weeks. ::sigh::

    Oh Jamie

It's very exciting to think of the possibilities that it can sometimes take your breathe away. The first tww us the hardest but it does get easier

I'm here if you need anything. Hopefully you had good counts today

Hopefully you had good counts today

Thanks, Char! I had to come into work afterward but all I wanted to do was go home and relax, to get my mind and body back to a peaceful state... 2 hours til the workday is through, though, and I'll be able to do just that. As for counts, he had 14MM post-thaw and 35% motility - and they said those are good, although I've heard others in the forum mention their donors' numbers were higher, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I had 2 really good sized follicles (23mm & 26mm) on Sunday, though, so that makes me feel a little better.

Your silly. 14 million is a great count!!!

Your silly. 14 million is a great count!!!

That makes me feel great! I'm still new to this so I'm not sure about what's good and what's not- especially since I've heard people mention "35MM" or higher. Maybe that was pre-thaw? Regardless, I'm going to take it easy the next 2 weeks and keep myself occupied. I started running again 2 weeks ago (2-3 miles every other day) but decided to only walk during the 2WW, so that I stay active and keep my body accustomed to the distance, but not do anything high intensity. I also decided to go back to school this semester and my girlfriends and I are having a Girls Nite Out on 1/21 (only Shirley Temples for me, though!) ... So there will be plenty to keep me busy during my 2WW :)

Don't read anything about counts online. Every doctor has a different way of reporting things. The average amount is 10 million sperm. I have had as low as 6 or 7 I think and as high as 19. When I get 14 I'm thrilled. The people that report having over 30 million must not be reporting it the same way as you!

There is a thread on here somewhere about total motile counts. You should read it.
  • GeminiJaiGeminiJai Senior Member Senior Member
I'll definitely take a look at that thread, thank you! OH! And I just so happened to stop by the grocery store tonight for some Chobani - and the first thing I saw when I walked in the store was a display of pineapples, which were on sale for $1 off, lol... I took that as a "sign" and decided to buy one! I cut out the core and sliced it into 5 pieces, then chunked up the rest of the flesh to take into the office and give to my co-workers tomorrow. Couldn't hurt, right?

Drove into work today feeling super-down... I remember reading this thread and seeing everyone talk about the various "pregnancy symptoms" they were experiencing (cramping, breast soreness, nausea, metallic taste in the mouth, etc.) and I turned into this big ball of nerves because I'm 7DPO and not experiencing any of those things- minus cramping about 45min immediately before and throughout the afternoon, following the IUI. But then I RE-READ this thread and was reminded that some ladies mentioned not feeling any symptoms - or, if they did, they weren't until 10DPO or later - so, I just wanted to reitterate how THANKFUL I am that I found this forum and all the ladies within it! This is my first 2WW and I'd been handling it fine until this morning. Feeling better now than I was 4 hours ago and hoping for increased positivity and optimism as the day (and week) progresses!
  • robinrobin Senior Member Senior Member
    Jamie,
Glad you feel better!you really can't read into any of the signs bc it is different for each person. For me I got symptoms just from the trigger shot! Its better just to think the whole tww that it worked and your pregnant! That's what worked for me!

    Lots of baby dust!

    Jaime,
I was feeling the exact same way this am and am with you at 7DPO. Not feeling anything except for a few pulling and aching in the ovary areas which of course just makes me worry. Uggh! Hate this wait and how I can turn all into a negative when I'm normally positive. I'm trying to stay positive, smile, and work alot :)

I go in for round #9 on Saturday, Really praying it works this time since if not, my RE wants to talk options.

    I have two follicles: 20mm and 24mm
  • littlepetelittlepete Member Member
Good Luck Anne--those are 2 great follicles and one will work!

  • GeminiJaiGeminiJai Senior Member Senior Member
I agree with littlepete, Anne! Those are two great-sized follicles! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for lots of successful, sticky baby dust!

And, littlepete- We're down to the wire, now... Only a few more days before I/we can test (I'm waiting til 1/30). I'm feeling much better, mentally, than I was a few days ago- how about you?? Still not feeling any symptoms, though, but I'm okay with it- which surprises me. I've just started telling myself that, if it doesn't happen this time, I still have 1 vial in storage at my RE's office waiting to be used :)
  • littlepetelittlepete Member Member
    Jaime,
Yes, we are getting close! I have been doing better the this last 4-5days because I have stayed real busy. The next 2 will be harder I feel--my idle thoughts :o (imagine that). I don't have any symptoms to report but am feeling crampy at times and not sure what that means. I don't look forward to testing on Monday and if negative having to go to work and pretend all is ok but am going to focus on a positive! For BOTH of US!

No need for me to POAS... Cramping and light spotting started yesterday- and AF arrived, unpacked her bags, and made herself right at home around 10:00am this morning. So I just called my RE's office and made an appointment 2/1 to start the process all over again for attempt #2. It's funny- no matter how much you try to "prepare" yourself and know darn well that the odds are stacked against you, it's still not easy to come to terms with. Feeling really low today.
  • Anne72Anne72 Senior Member Senior Member
Jaime, I'm so sorry. It is a tough process and the emotional rollercoaster isn't what I would call fun. But you can try again and you will get that BFP!

I did my 9th round on Saturday. Last round, I just knew it didn't work from day 2 DPO, just a gut feeling. But this time I'm feeling very positive. I'm taking lots of moments to just breathe deep and believe.

We will all get there somehow! Big hugs

    Jaime,
Was hoping you had better luck than I did this time. BFN for me this am but I knew it wasn't going to be positive. So disappointing. I had 6 good size follicles and was so hopeful but when I went in, the doc could not get the catheter in for IUI and they poked and prodded for 45min, speculums that were too big, blah, blah and 3 docs tried and the 3rd finally was able to get it in. I was so uncomfortable by that time and it was the worst cramping I ever had-I barely made it to work the next day. I can't blame it just on that but if I am that uncomfortable-have a hard time believing that it is a good environment for insemination to occur. And well, I just knew it didn't work then but was trying to stay positive. I will be requesting another doc for insemination next time. Has anyone had this happen?

Thank you, Anne! I'm glad you felt positive this last time and I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is Lucky #9 for you! *~::.baby.dust.::~*

    Wow, littlepete- I'm sooo sorry to hear about your last IUI experience :( ... My RE had some trouble getting the catheter in with me, but that's because I had woken up that morning with cramps from ovulating- plus I was nervous. I did my best to relax and, in the end, he was successful after only a couple minutes. I hope I handle it better next time; I just wish I could take something preemptive for the pain, but am afraid of having any kind of drugs in my system during/after the procedure. I hope you're able to secure a better doctor next time!! {{hugs}}

I went into my RE's office for an ultrasound and blood work at 10am this morning (CD3) and we charted a plan for my 2nd IUI, using 100mg Clomid CD4-8 this time with trigger- and the IUI scheduled for 2/13...

Well, then I got a phone call from the office at 3pm asking me to have more blood work tomorrow morning. It appears that there was a low level of hCG in my system, indicating a "chemical pregnancy," and that things need to zero back out before I can start the process over again. Of course I had to Google what CP meant, so now I'm obviously saddened, BUT I have to just keep reminding myself that it wasn't meant to be. Kinda glad now that I never took a HPT because to have gotten excited and then found this out would have been devastating.
  • robinrobin Senior Member Senior Member
    Jamie,
So sorry to hear about the chemical pregnancy. :( At least your doctor is on top of things and can tell you what to do and change the protocol. Will you still be able to try this month?

    Baby Dust!

    Jaime,
So sorry to hear about this for you. The one positive thing I focused on with the miscarriage a few months ago was that this was a positive result in that you can get pregnant and you will again!
I originally thought I was going to take this month because of just profound disappointment. Part of me thinks that a person's body needs a break from fertility drugs but I am coming around and wondering if I should go ahead and try anyway. I haven't gotten my period yet but it is coming and will need to make a decision. Does anyone have any opinions or words of wisdom? :?: I just keep going back to --not wanting to waste a whole month of not trying....

Thank you, ladies! I'm actually dealing with it much better than I would've thought... It's so early on that I can accept it, if it just wasn't meant to be. Like my Mom keeps saying, "you want the BEST egg to come together with the BEST sperm- and nothing less."

I went in for labs this morning and should get the results this afternoon. Apparently, my hCG was at 6 miU/ml and the hCG can range from 5 - 50 mIU/ml within the first 3 weeks of pregnancy (but I guess 25miU/ml is where they'd "expect" it to be by now). So all I can do now is wait to see what my hCG level is today, to find out if it's doubled or dropped- and then I'll know for sure. And at this point, that's all I want: a definitive answer, either way. Because, if I'm not pregnant, today (CD4) would be the first day that I start on 100mg Clomid for my next cycle/attempt.

I'll keep you updated, as soon as I know more!

:?: Has anyone taken low dose baby Aspirin per recommendation of your RE? My RE has not but have a friend who dr did so am wondering if this is something I should be doing?

Gemini atleast you know the sperm and egg are able to meet!! I know its gotta be hard but least you have a positive outta all this!! Maybe your doc will have you take something else to help the egg implant since that could be the problem! This last try I took estance for a few days (between my u/s and iui) then crinone 8% for the 2ww. Wont know till Monday if it helped. Good Luck!!
