Chantilly it's early. Don't read in to it. I took multiple ones last time and drove myself mad. You could have recently implanted and not have enough hcg hormone in your urine yet.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you and Denise this week.)

Your welcome Brandy1550. Thinking of you Chantillylace.

Kinda wishing I would of done back to back IUI's this time. My temp always seems to spike on the day of IUI. Making me think I already ovulated that night. Even though I did do Ovidrel and went in 36 hrs as scheduled. Worried!!!

    Have a great day everyone!!!

Denise- stay strong don't do it!! And please tell me this same thing when my TWW comes this month.. Lol

Lisa, You have yourself a deal!! I don't have a pregnancy test in my house which helps right now. 2 more wake ups and then I test!

I am not sure what everyone does for a living..but this tww reminds me when I was taking exams...I would always have to keep checking the mailbox to see if I passed.
The results would come in a large envelope if you passed and a small envelope if you failed. Arghhhh...lol

well af showed up before I had a chance to go for my beta so I am officially out. I still haven't told dh cause we had so much riding on this cycle. Looks like I will be out until the fall perhaps oct or nov depending on how fast dh finds a new job. Money will be too tight to try again for a while because jobs can be hard to find so in the mean time I have picked up some double shifts. I will be able to pay for another cycle myself in a few months but first I had some questions I hoped one of you could answer.
First question - My clinic only accepts unwashed sperm cause they like washing it them selves but I noticed I lose 60 % of the sperm each time they wash (this time it was 9.3 mil on thaw and 3.1 mil after wash) So has anyone ever heard of double washing? like if I get a washed sample and my RE rewashes it will I lose less sperm since most of the dead ones were already gone?? I haven't got a straight answer on this from my RE.
Second question. I consistently get low counts (see above) but my RE keeps pushing for injectables (at $2000 a try they are just to expensive) I am thinking of saving up for a injectabke cycle but wonder if it will be worth it with such low sperm counts? Will the meds even make a difference if there aren't enough swimmers?
And last but not least my clinic doesn't do trigger shots if you are using clomid only injectables. So they time the iui's based off opk..When you get a surge you go in the DAY of the surge and have the iui meaning about 3-5 hours after the surge the thought behind this is they want the sperm waiting for the egg and not the other way around BUT we all know frozen sperm doesn't live as long. So how does your clinic time your iui's??? day of or day after surge? I am thinking if I cannot afford injectables I may bypass the clomid next time and just get a trigger shot to time it better. Any ways I suppose I will have months to think about it..
Thanks for reading my novel lol any input would be greatly appreciated. I wish you lovely ladies all the best and hope your cycles are successful. Now there is several bottles of wine with my name on them..
    All the best
    Chantelle xx

Sorry to hear that AF showed up.

Those numbers are really low for washed sperm. I have used 3 vials (back to back this past time) and none have been below 15 million. My clinic washes sperm no matter what so I always get unwashed.

I think Fairfax will refund your money if the counts are that low.

I haven't used Clomid or a trigger so I'm not sure about those but the timing my clinic used is that when I get a positive home ovulation result, I go in the next day for the IUI
  • chantillylacechantillylace Member Member
Yea they seemed really low. The highest I ever had was 11 mil post thaw but it ended up being 4.8 mil after wash still BFN. I have no idea how you get counts so high!! what dispensary do you use? I use CAMCRYO based out of Ontario they then ship from Fairfax there isn't a direct Fairfax that I know of. I will get a refund (I did for my last vial it was 7.2 mil prewash and 2.7 post wash) but it's the cost of the iui its self and the processing and the shipping you don't get the money back for that so it's still pricey! What donor did you use if you don't mind me asking? I have used both 2976 and 2908.
  • D-rizzyD-rizzy Senior Member Senior Member
I use 4538. I'm not sure what dispensary is used. I just order from Fairfax and the sperm magically appears at my doctor's office. And yes, it does suck that only the vial cost is refunded. I hope you have better luck next time around and definitely finding a donor with higher sperm counts is important

I'm doing I medicated cycles right now and they are doing the IUI the day after my surge. My first IUI with donor 4810 the count was 23 million. The second IUI with donor 4282 the count was 10.1. I'm going to try the second donor again and then possibly go back to my number 1 pick if donors 2's count isn't better this time. Or pick another donor.

    Hi Chantilly,

I also used CANAM and my clinic in ON also washes the sperm even if it was done by Fairfax. I did not do IUI (just IVF) so I used all the drugs and can't comment on that.
  • lposhlposh Senior Member Senior Member
Chantilly I'm sorry about the news.(
Some fertility specialist say go straight to ivf that I read because the percentage of success is 50%. And they think you end up spending the same amount with 3 failed iui's. I'm assuming most docs want to go conservative with us at first. But ultimately the choice is yours not theirs. I personally didn't have any medical issues so I went with drugs and iui. I also am fortunate enough that my insurance pays for everything up to 30,000 in fertility stuff. So if I were to pay out of pocket I would probably go to ivf.

Also it's seems fair that Fairfax would refund both the vial and shipping considering the low counts. Have you asked? They have been very helpful and professional throughout my process here with them. Enough that I would recommend them to other women. I would certainly ask Fairfax about refunding both and all they can say is no. However, I do think they want to keep your business and would work with you on this situation. I was just curious how much does your iui cost?
    @ Moderator- Any thoughts?
Btw, I called fairfax today and shipped two vials to be delivered to my OBGYN Monday. So that did excite me tremendously.

I've had one vial refunded BC it was under the count all I got was the cost of the vial. A iui unmedicated at my clinic is $400 with injectables it's $2000 ivf costs about $12000 none of those include the sperm cost of course. BIG price difference! We went with iui cause our only issue is my hubby doesn't produce sperm. I've had all the bw & a HSG done everything is fine so I'm not sure why this isn't working I'm guessing its timing & low counts.

I'm so sorry to hear this Chantelle, you and your hubby are in my thoughts! Sending my love your way! Brandy

I really like Fairfax as well. I think they will def work with you. Did you know you can also find out # pregnancy by donor? Just found this out and they are suppose to send by mail.

    Lots of baby dust everyone!!!
  • lposhlposh Senior Member Senior Member
When I asked they told me wether or not my donor had positive pregnancies and gave me a range.
I had no idea the of iui and ivf. Especially ivf. That's not just a couple extra shifts at work. Geez

    Lisa,
When are you due for your next round?
  • lposhlposh Senior Member Senior Member
    Denise,
Next week! I just sent the baby daddy to ob to be delivered this coming Monday on the day of my appt. I sent two vials.. Lol just gonna tell her we ARE doing a piggyback. She doesn't know that yet.
Btw I briefly checked out that website single mothers by choice. It has a 55$ A year fee and did peak my interest because I love chatting like this with you and the other girls. When I have a little more time I'm going read on it further. But it has multiple forums, like thinking about conceiving, trying to conceive, parent of infant, parent of toddler etc. they also offer a monthly magazine. Check it out. Have fun at the lake and what ever tomorrow brings we all are gonna be here excited and supportive!
    Kisses

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that refers to my sperm vial as the "baby daddy". I'm going to get my sonogram tomorrow to see if I can try this week. So far no OPK positive yet. But I'm anticipating tomorrow or Sunday will be the day.

Wishing you luck Denise. Have fun at the lake.
  • D-rizzyD-rizzy Senior Member Senior Member
I call him my donor daddy, may change to baby daddy whenever he gets around to knocking me up! Haha!!
Thanks ladies! I'll let you know as soon as I test tomorrow!
  • lposhlposh Senior Member Senior Member
Tx-- I go in Monday for my us. So we can be a few days apart. Are you doing meds with it this month? Or have you been? I'm soo excited for you. I started testing opk and am hoping I won't ovulate till I can get back in town Monday for my appt.
Can't wait to hear about yours and Denise's day tomorrow.
    Goodnight.
