We are trying 2976 on the next cycle.
  • sibemomsibemom Member Member
Just ordered some from him. HE'S SUCH A CUTE KID! Not that that is everything, but it was enough to sway me from my initial desire for the donor to give me a better chance of blue eyes.
  • sibemomsibemom Member Member
First try complete this morning. Not holding my breath, but it's a start!
  • sibemomsibemom Member Member
sryae78, what's your timeframe for 'next cycle'?
  • zangzang Junior Member
sibemom, did you have any luck with donor 2976?
  • sibemomsibemom Member Member
Well, I was finally able to test yesterday and ... negative. Of course, I'm actually spotting already too, so that reinforces the test for me. I'm debating if I try 2976 a second time in a row or bounce back and forth between him and 4102. Anyone wanna try and inspire me one way or the other?
  • zangzang Junior Member
I saw today that 2976 has a positive pregnancy. I've tried him the past 2 cycles and have been negative both times. I'm going to try him again this cycle. Keeping my fingers crossed.

We fell in love with donor 2976 the minute we saw his picture. He also has a great personality it seems like. We are using him with our first IUI. I'm not sure what to expect. We are preparing ourselves for the worst. Have you all had any success?!

So I think I've decided to move on from my old donor...to donor #2976! I'm really excited and planning to purchase 2 vials this week....
  • sraye78sraye78 Junior Member Junior Member
Sibemom- Did iui with 2976 yesterday. This is our first iui so I am hopeful, but cautiously so. Reproductive endo told us the count was 21.3 on thaw. I am happy to see that there is a reported pregnancy now.

Sending warm wishes your way srayae78!
I just called today to have my second specimen of his sent for my second attempt late next week. Maybe we'll both get lucky in one month. Fingers crossed. I admit, while I think my other selection is excellent as well, I'll be a bit disappointed if I have to move on to trying that donor.

We are using 2976. I got pregnant the first time but lost the baby in the second trimester. The baby had a Cystic Hygroma that indicated the he most likely had a chromosomal abnormality such as Trisomy 18 or Trisomy 21. We were totally heartbroken. I am currently pregnant again from our second IUI but the doctor just called and told me that he does not think the pregnancy is viable. I cannot help but think....were these two related? I don't think anything is wrong with our donor. But maybe a bad combo of his genetics and mine. All my tests have come back that I have excellent fertility, not immune problems or structural problems. I love this donor. So adorable and just feel great about him. Has anyone else got pregnant? Any miscarriages?
  • maria2maria2 Senior Member Senior Member
Oh aggiebaby that is awful! I am so sorry. After your first pregnancy, what did Fairfax say about that? It concerns me because I just purchased two vials of his and now worried....

Maybe your pregnancy is ok??? Im hoping all is well. Please keep us posted. Thx.
    ..good luck!
  • sibemomsibemom Member Member
... that is a little concerning. They just recently changed his listing to pregnancy reported... did you not report the first pregnancy? Did you tell them of the miscarriage and determined cause?

I do wonder what the criteria is for them changing to a positive status - just that someone tested positive, or does it need to reach a certain point?
  • tillietillie Member Member
aggiebaby, i am so so so very sorry to hear this. it is horrible you or anyone has to go through that. it is such a tough way to remind us all that getting pregnant is one step along the way but certainly not the only step.

do you mind if i ask your age? being older myself in terms of fertility, i understand from reading some things that egg quality often results in chromosomal issues/miscarriages that would be unrelated, i think, to the donor or his sperm. maybe your doctor can answer whether these specific chromosomal issues are of the genetic type or more connected with either egg quality or just the flukes that happen sometimes with pregnancy.

From our Certified Genetic Counselor at Fairfax Cryobank:

A chromosomal abnormality like Trisomy 18 or 21 is a sporadic event and not considered hereditary. This does not increase the risk for others who use this donor. In addition donor 2976 has had a normal chromosomal study (karyotype) which rules out the rare event when these events can be inherited.

If you have any additional questions or concerns about this donor please call Fairfax Cryobank Client Services at 800-338-8407.

Moderator- THANK YOU for interjecting. This is good information to know.

I had my second attempt today, but I'm a bit down as a result. At the onset my doctor comes in and says "we need to talk" and she proceeded to say that looking at things under the scope there was barely any movement and she asked where I got it from. Kind of disheartening. What does everyone else's doctor "do" when you head in there?

I felt so relieved after I spoke with genetc counselor because I had just purchased 2 vials! What a relief.

Sibemom, did they give you any numbers though? That is concerning. Did your lab contact Fairfax? Im sorry....maybe you still have a chance! Stay hopeful. Good luck!
  • sibemomsibemom Member Member
I don't think she did more than look... but I don't know. I'd hate for her to take more of my small $500+ sample :)

It just happened this afternoon, so I did leave them a message with info to contact Fairfax, not sure how all that works out. Thanks for the good luck. Yes, there is always still a chance. I wish there was someone I knew that I could trust to donate and not want involved (worry about legal blah).

Oh, my numbers for both cycles were about 15 mil. "A" swimmers. I guess they get rid of all the sperm that cannot swim in a straight line.

Thank you for letting us know that 2976 has a normal karyotype. What a relief. I thought donors were only tested for the common things like Cystic Fibrosis, Sickle Cell, etc. I know it is uncommon, but I was worried about balanced translocation.

I am 34 and all my fertility tests have come back excellent. I am a very good responded to fertility meds with 5 follicles the first cycle and 7 follicles the second cycle. However, I just found out today that we are miscarrying again. I feel so defeated. I am so scared to get pregnant again and lose another one. I am so thankful that this loss was much earlier that the last. The late miscarriage was so hard! I had already had like 7 ultrasounds and watched the baby grow. So beautiful! We are considering moving to IVF with PGD. PGD is when they biopsy the embryo to check for chromosomal abnormalities before the embryo is placed in the uterus. We will be talking to our RE Monday afternoon. We have 6 vials left of 2976, so my husband is not willing to switch donors.

Good luck ladies! Keep us posted!

Has anyone purchased his Lifetime Photos??
  • aggiebabyaggiebaby Member Member
No, I am interested to know if anyone has as well!
  • sibemomsibemom Member Member
Was bleeding lightly yesterday and today... about 5-6 days early from when my period should come. Could it be implantation bleeding? Doubtful, but still curious and hopeful.
  • aggiebabyaggiebaby Member Member
I never had spotting before a BFP, but some women do. I am hopeful for you!!!! You should be able to test in the next few days. If you used a trigger shot, I would wait until atleast 10-11 dpo so you do not get a false positive from the trigger. I got a BFP on 10 dpo, but it was because of the trigger shot. I then got another BFP at 12 dpo after the trigger was out of my system. Keep us posted!!!!

I purchased the adult photo for 2976. He's really cute! He was our favorite until I found out I was CMV negative.
  • aggiebabyaggiebaby Member Member
Oh man! That is a bummer! Thank you for sharing! He is a cute little boy but would love to see an adult photo as well.
  • paulml02paulml02 Junior Member Junior Member
That is a bummer!! Did you find another great donor? I would love to see the adult photo too. Would you like to share? lol ;-) Does anyone have PCOS?
  • madlub143madlub143 Junior Member
    Hi,

I would share, but I ordered the printed picture that came through the mail. I think that was before the email option was available. Sorry!! You won't be disappointed, though. He has really pretty brown eyes and a nice smile. :)
