The month really did help me honestly. We went to visit friends the weekend after my negative iui and I drank tons of coffee and had wine and got it out of my system. I am now officially caffeine free and following a diet geared towards fertility from the book the infertility cure. I feel so much better and even dropped 20 lbs this month. If you want any info let me know I would love to help!!

Getting a negative sucks, nobody can tell you any differently but I know in my heart that we all can get pregnant. Some just have an easier time with it than others. Let's all follow robins spirit and know it will happen and spend our tww picturing our pregnancies! Look what happened with her... It worked!!

If you need anything I am here for you!!

Ok i need a little advice on timing.

This month we are not having bloodwork or ultrasounds done so that we can save the money needed if we end up having to do ivf in a few month because our insurance covers NOTHING! We will be doing piggy-back iuis and I just got the positive lh surge on the OPK. I have been testing all day since i could tell it was coming (one of the perks at being in this game so long) SO i know for a fact that the surge happened somewhere between 5 pm and 710 when i got the positive.

when would you all schedule your iuis for on thursday? I am not sure if i should have it done at 8 am which is about 12 hours or if i should wait a little longer?

i would really appreciate any feedback tonight ladies. I am so excited about this iui! i hope i can sleep tonight?

    Hey Char!!
I've read that after your surge the egg can be released anytime between 24-48hrs. A good rule of thumb is to do the IUI earlier instead of later to have the sperm waiting for the egg when it's released. When I did back to back iuis the first was usually around 12hr and the second around 30hrs. I think I will be fine if you do it in that 36 hr window. Well this is so exciting!! I will send you a PM later. Good luck girl!

Thank you Charlotte! You are so sweet to type it all out for all to see...I think we all needed that. I'm still debating...but good luck with your IUI!!!!

Whenever I had the LH surge with OPK, I went in the next day for my IUI...(those are the times I did not use a trigger shot)....

but Moe is right, everything I read said that after LH surge, you can ovulate within 12-48 hours after...but I think they say typically 36 hours after....and I also agree it's better to have sperm waiting for egg...

Good luck Charlotte!!!! Keep us posted!

    Maria

i am glad to hear that it might have helped you a little! ;)

Thanks for all of your help and support the other night. I had my second of two IUIs this morning and i am feeling very calm and collected. Thanks to my amazing acupuncturist! I am currently "enjoying" wink wink pineapple core. YUCK!

I went to church after the procedure today and lit a candle for my hubby and I to finally find success. My second candle was for all of my cyber friends. I hope you all find peace and success in your next cycles too!

    Cheers!

Good luck hopefulchar!! So sweet...(about lighting the candle for us).

Keep us posted!!! Lots of Baby dust!!!

Thank you for lighting the candle. All the prayers and good thoughts really help. You are all in my prayers every day.

Maria - I saw that you are thinking of trying again in the new year. Yay! Fingers crossed for you.

I'm supposed to wait to Thanksgiving to test but I'm either going to POAS tomorrow or Friday. I just don't want to do it on Thanksgiving. This year is tough since I won't be with my family. I didn't know what my cycle would be like after the miscarriage so I couldn't book tickets until it was too late and they were out of budget, so I'm alone this year.

Thanks for lighting the candle Char!! You're the best! Anne I hope that you get your BFP on Friday!! How are you feeling? Sorry you won't be with family for Turkey Day. Hopefully you will find something to keep your mind occupied. How about helping serve dinners at a local shelter?? Make sure you stay connected with family and friends.

Sweetpea, Maria, Latebloomer, and Jl2011 please be encouraged and stay positive. It's going to happen, just keep moving forward  Lets all be cycle buddies for the next go round!!

Happy Turkey Day to everyone!! And lots of sticky baby dust and cornbread stuffing!

To all the ladies out there tat got a bfp. Did any of you feel bloated and lots of pressure in your lower stomache in your tww or after you knew you were pregnant. I have been feeling this way for a couple days and I'm hoping it's a good sign
  • robinrobin Senior Member Senior Member
    Charlotte,
My stomach definately felt different. Everytime I had to cough, I felt like I had to hold my stomach because it felt tender and I am definately bloated and have tons of gas. Usually. More in the morning and in the evening. Hope that's not too m uch info! Its hard to explain how I felt different just did. I fell very hopeful for you this time! My breasts also became sore but different than before af. They were tender underneath them and sensitive to the touch but just underneath them. Remember each persons symptoms are all different. What I felt you may not feel. Keep your positive thoughts flowing and here's to that bfp for you this month!

Sending lots of baby dust to you!

jl2011....... I'm so sorry about your bfn. Know that I am thinking about you and praying for all of you nightly! Keep the faith. It is difficult to deal with the negatives but will all be worth it after you get to see and hear the heartbeat of your little one! It WILL happen for each of you!

sorry to be the bearer of more bad news but i tested early and got another negative this morning. I am obviously very frusterated with MY experience especially because i will be on my 9th cycle and my doctor hasnt even put me on a trigger shot yet. I have done 3 unmedicated cycle and 5 clomid cycles (only two of which were monitered) I have a doctors appointment on monday to discuss our next options but i refuse to move on to ivf until we have added injectables and trigger shots to ensure we have covered all of our bases.

Monday is my doctors appointment and I will most likely be on day 4. While on clomid i always started meds on day three and i am not sure what to do this time. I want to do injectables or i dont want to try..so i need help from you ladies. what day do you start the meds when you have taken injectables? how do i deal with my doctor? do i need to switch doctors? There are really only two doctors offices here in town and i have bad things about both..eek

Thanks for your help and ladies keep your chins up...I am!

To all the ladies who experienced BFN's this month, I'm truly sorry. I was anxiously awaiting the results of all of your 2WW's and felt my balloon of optimism about this whole process deflate a bit, after each of your updates.

As you all know, I'm very new to this and have yet to have my first IUI (slated for January 2012- and using Clomid), so maybe I'm missing something but I'm curious... For the ladies who have had several unsuccessful attempts- is there a reason for not moving onto medication, injectables and/or trigger shots sooner, rather than later?? Is it a cost issue? OR is it a fear of having multiples?

The reason I ask is because cost is an issue for me since none of this is covered by insurance. And I'm wondering if it wouldn't be worthwhile for me to look at having a trigger shot and/or moving on to injectables, if I'm still not successful after 3 attempts? I.E. Would the cost of trigger shots and/or injectables be more cost-effective than 3 or more additional IUI cycles...?

    Thanks for your help!!

I wanted to move on to injectable after the 6th cycle but my doctor advised against it because of the cost. When I was on Clomid we only paid for the sperm and the 296 for the iui. A few of the cycles we added monitoring and that added 600 The injectables would be another 1500ish and there is a lot more monitoring involved. In hindesight I wish I would have pushed the issue. We have spent a small fortune already and it's only going to get worse Bc ivf is about 30,000 for the cost share plan.

I don't want you to get upset thinking it will take you as long as it has me. I don't wish that on anybody. My experience is the exception not the rule. I am still very optimistic that I will have my perfect baby by next Christmas though. Here is hoping for a Christmas miracle ladies.
I still feel thankful for what I do have and all of you ladies and your encouragement is definitely on the top of that list.

    Gemini,
I started on clomid and then after 2 cycles moved to injectibles BUT my insurance covered the cost of the meds. I know other ladies would say do the OPK tests for ovualtion. my suggestion do the trigger from the start. I say that becuase it helps with timing and the trigger shot is not unreasonable, even without insurance. When I ordered mine I think they told me it was around 60 dollars without insurance. To me that would be worth it for the peace of mind that I knew I would be ovulating with in 24 -36 hours. This is just my suggestion and I know that others will disagree with me.

do not get discouraged! Keep very optimistic and it could work for you on the first try!

Anne.... Good luck on the injectibles! heres hoping for healthy multiple follicles for you!

Charlotte, I sent you another PM you are so encouraging and inspirational! I love you girl!

Moe, Keep your head up girl and that balloon filled with optimism...... It will happen for you! For all of you!

Next Christmas we will all be sharing stories of our little ones!

My insurance does not cover any medication, so all of my IUI's have to be without. But, I am wondering if you can just do a trigger shot by itself to get the timing right? Anybody know?

Thanks! I just got back from my first appointment since I started the meds. I have 4-5 good looking follicles. They've lowered my dosage and we are hoping for 3-4 to release when the time comes. Fingers crossed for lucky #7!

I think my RE may be more "aggressive" than most- but in a good way because he has a very high success rate. He knows that this is all out of pocket for me and, as a result, I feel that he's got a good game plan set in place for me. Plus, I'm very lucky that my Mom is a fertility nurse, so I talked with her about all of this last night... She reitterated that I shouldn't stress myself out with worry. She also said that many women have gotten BFP's in the cycle following their HSG but there's no scientific evidence to back why that happens. Even so, she made sure to stress to me that it doesn't happen that way for everyone- and I think it's because she wants me to be try and be optimistic witout getting my hopes too high for "beginners luck."

I just got the results back from my last thyroid test and the numbers are the best thy have ever been. That is really promising for me next cycle. Apparently it is really hard to get pregnant with a bad thyroid. So cheers to next month

How is everybody doing? Just wanted to check in on all of my favorite ladies.

@hopefulchar - i'm really sorry....it's so heartbreaking to hear about the BFN!

my doc starts the injectables on day 2 or 3...but i'm sure some REs may vary....

good luck to all you other ladies!

Yes, you are absolutely correct! The thyroid needs to be working efficiently so that it doesn't interfere with your hormone levels. If it's hyperactive or hypoactive then both conditions make it challenging to get pregnant. My fertility doc always does baseline blood tests around CD2-4 to check thyroid function among many other levels. Based on the results, if there is a problem with the thyroid then that will need to be addressed first before the fertility cycle can begin. Once the results are good the doc starts me on injectables CD3 and depending on the dose, I can be on the meds anywhere from 5-7 days, but bear in mind my ovaries are very sensitive to any stim and respond quickly. I think most ladies tend to be on injectables an average of 9 days.

I'm glad they gave you good news about your thyroid :D Good luck on Monday....I would still encourage the doc to start you on injectables and skip the Clomid part of it. Remember your body has already been exposed to the Clomid for several cycles without success and there is info out there that supports the fact that the body can become resistant.

Good luck and wishing you all lots of baby dust!!

Thanks Maria. I am doing ok. Still impatiently waiting for AF. Not sure where she is but annoyed because I have had 4 or 5 days of negative tests. She was due on thursday or Friday so really it's a big mystery. How are you doing. Are you feeling any better?

Moe I am definately willing to listen to her theory on my injectables/Clomid but I am pretty certain I want injectables. It's ridic to not give it everything we have this last time or two before ivf.

I agree with your thoughts on it not being effective. I just am so curious what the reason is for mixing the two. If she doesn't give me a trigger I am out of there. I should have had it all along. Clearly my timing was off especially this cycle my iui was Thursday-Friday and I still am without my period

How are you feeling. Just one week left right. I'm thinking and praying for your bfp this cycle.
  • robinrobin Senior Member Senior Member
    Maria,
I started the injectibles on day 3. Once I started on day 4 but that was just after I had gotten the results of my blood tests abd happened to beon day 4 and we didn't want to waste a cycle. So typically you start on day 3.

    Charlotte,
You know I am thinking about you!

    Moe, good luck!

Well it's Official. AF just officially showed up for the party. My opk clearly were not accurate. I should have ovulated on Thursday maybe Friday and look its Saturday night and I am just starting. Tomorrow is my official first day since I don't have a full flow yet. So the bright news is that I will only be on day two when I see the doctor on Monday so I can make an informed decision. I don't want to feel rushed and pressured. I am a little nervous to get baseline ultrasound and bloodwork but just because I have never had it before I guess. Eek

I am taking all the thoughts and prayers you are willing to throw my way before Monday. I am anxious over this appt and will probably be lurking the forum until then. Somehow I always feel better here. At least you all get it, and me!
