I stumbled upon this thread and subsequently read a little of your blog. I am so moved. You write so beautifully and your words express emotion so well. I'm sure there is so much more emotion that cannot even be put into words - I feel compelled to speak up and honor you. My heart hurts for you and your family and all that you have been through. I hope to be able to be on here more now that we are starting our TTC journey, and I look forward to following your story and supporting you guys as you try again.
Just a little about me so that I'm not a complete stranger (even though I am...lol). My soon-to-be wife and I have both tried over the years (before we were together) to get pregnant with donor sperm and had no success. I tried eleven times over 2 years, she tried 9 times over about two years. I moved on to a known donor and became pregnant on the first try, and have a 7 yr old son as a result. We both want more children but, due to our ages, will feel very lucky to have just one more. I am 38, she is 45. Our first IUI is this week. I suppressed for one month with BCPs, took 25mg of Letrozole last week (all at once), and am currently under u/s monitoring to keep an eye on my follicles. We will probably trigger on Thursday and do the IUI on Saturday.
Technically I don't belong in this thread yet, but I wanted to get acquainted with the folks over here since I'll be here in a few days.
I am so not looking forward to the TWW. It's been 8 years for me....lol.
XO
I feel so young, I never imagined I wouldn't respond well to meds. It's a little bizarre to face my body's real age. lol
If I triggered 7/6 and had IUI's 7/7 and 7/8 (what day am I on today?)
I'm on the same schedule . IUI on 7/7 I'm 9dpiui... so you would be between day 8-9 depending on which IUI took.
Just to make sure the hcg is totally out of your system. That would be 14dpo+1.
(but I can't say that I wouldn't test early)
We are FINALLY inseminating in the morning. I guess the meds completely threw my cycle off but, in actuality, it regulated it. We triggered yesterday, CD14, and will inseminate at 40 hours post trigger. My largest follicle at the time of the trigger was almost 17mm. Smaller than I think she would've liked, but still large enough to go ahead. I'm SUPER crampy this morning, so I'm hoping it's one final growth spurt before I ovulate. My TWW officially begins tomorrow.
Kerri - any news with you?

Question, I am interested for the sake of knowing...
Who here is single, hetero, and same-sex couples and locations?
We are obviously a same-sex couple based on our picture and we are in Atlanta.
So sorry Kerri :-( I don't think it will ever be easy to get a BFN. It seems to be getting harder every time for me. I go in Thursday for my u/s.
You know the answer to your question for me but for all the newer folks on the board my husband and I live in IL and have a very beautiful 2 1/2 year old son from this crazy process, I lost a set of twins last year and have been trying for about a year to get pregnant again after the mc.
We are in Florida and we are a same-sex couple. We have a 7.5 year old son using a known donor. I haven't done IUIs with frozen sperm since 2004-2006 (no success then either). We are going to try this for a while and then possibly move on to a known donor if we aren't successful.
We just did our insemination this morning and my blood test is scheduled for Aug 4.
ETA: chaffinsl, I congratulated you on the other thread, but didn't want you to think I was ignoring your post above! CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm looking forward to the next update.
My wife and I are a same sex couple. We just finished our 3rd natural IUI attempt. Our doctor encouraged us to take some clomid but we opted not to and thought we were being impatient if we did so. It resulted in a positive result for us.
Wishing everyone well and lots of positives to follow on this thread.
7/17 HCG 15
7/20 HCG 82
7/27 HCG 2700
No wonder I'm feeling like poop this baby is producing hormones like a maniac! I'm not complaining though, doc was happy- first ultrasound is Aug 7 @315 Est.
Edited: Ok, I did it for you. LOL
Doubling time =1.4 days or 33.33 hours
YAY!!
I'm finishing up my TWW. We will take a test at home on Monday morning, and I have my blood test Tuesday morning. I'm feeling very PMS though...lower back ache and mild heaviness in front.
While I am being realistic, I'm also reminded of when I was pregnant with my son in 2007, I JUST KNEW I was going to start my period the next day...and the next day, I got my very first EVER positive pregnancy test. So, although I feel incredibly PMS...I suppose there's still a chance.
Here's hoping.
I'm sending you lots of baby dust!! I'm praying for you!
