Hey Lisa, here it is. Mind you it is not an easy read. I've been writing since the day we found out that we lost Thatcher.

    Kerri,

I stumbled upon this thread and subsequently read a little of your blog. I am so moved. You write so beautifully and your words express emotion so well. I'm sure there is so much more emotion that cannot even be put into words - I feel compelled to speak up and honor you. My heart hurts for you and your family and all that you have been through. I hope to be able to be on here more now that we are starting our TTC journey, and I look forward to following your story and supporting you guys as you try again.

Just a little about me so that I'm not a complete stranger (even though I am...lol). My soon-to-be wife and I have both tried over the years (before we were together) to get pregnant with donor sperm and had no success. I tried eleven times over 2 years, she tried 9 times over about two years. I moved on to a known donor and became pregnant on the first try, and have a 7 yr old son as a result. We both want more children but, due to our ages, will feel very lucky to have just one more. I am 38, she is 45. Our first IUI is this week. I suppressed for one month with BCPs, took 25mg of Letrozole last week (all at once), and am currently under u/s monitoring to keep an eye on my follicles. We will probably trigger on Thursday and do the IUI on Saturday.

Technically I don't belong in this thread yet, but I wanted to get acquainted with the folks over here since I'll be here in a few days. :)

Welcome! I am currently 7 dpiui and going NUTS lol. This was my first and unmedicated. Which donor did you use? if you don't mind sharing... also, good luck with the IUI this week... I didn't think this TWW would be so terrible but it's lasting FOREVER! lol.

We purchased the last vial of 4520. He is out of the system now, so if it doesn't work we are back to the drawing board. He wasn't our first pick, but we felt better about choosing someone from our list of "potentials" who had reported pregnancies.

I am so not looking forward to the TWW. It's been 8 years for me....lol.

Janbaby- yes still using 4703. The first iui on June 3 was 38 million and didn't take. The second one was July 4 and was only 10 mil (which was disappointing). I'm still in 2ww. I have my blood test on the 20th. Keeping fingers crossed, but no positives yet.

Thank you so so much JJZ for the kind words. It's a tough read for sure so I have felt a little nervous about even putting the link on this blog as everyone has enough worries just with the TTC much less once you are pregnant. It's our story though. Denise who posted a few days ago and I were pregnant at the same time and due right around the same time. She was my bump buddy. It will happen ladies. Keep up the positive thoughts. I am 8DPO so here's hoping in a week we will have a BFP. My stomach is already so horribly bruised from the blood thinners that I have to shoot myself with every morning. I look forward to following your journey as well JJZ.

    XO

Well our first round is off to a bumpy start. My follicles aren't as big as she hoped they would be. My dominant one is 13.5 and the next one is 12. I ovulate early, usually around CD11, so we are hoping I hold of a few more days. I'm on CD10 with no LH surge yet, which is amazing. I have another u/s on Friday and ideally the dominant follicle will be closer to 16 so we can do the trigger and inseminate on Sunday. She is out of town on Monday, so that's the latest possible day we can do it. If my follicle(s) aren't large enough, I don't know what we will do. Hopefully we will go for it since I'd lose the vial anyway. They don't have storage at this clinic.
I feel so young, I never imagined I wouldn't respond well to meds. It's a little bizarre to face my body's real age. lol

Interesting question. With two children and multiple rounds of IUI under our belt at this point you would think I have the answer.

If I triggered 7/6 and had IUI's 7/7 and 7/8 (what day am I on today?)

I'm on the same schedule :). IUI on 7/7 I'm 9dpiui... so you would be between day 8-9 depending on which IUI took.
  • JJZFamilyJJZFamily Member Member
I was going to say the same thing. I'd assume you ovulated on the 7th, making you 9dpo. If you are planning on testing at home, I'd wait until 7/22 if you can stand it. :)
Just to make sure the hcg is totally out of your system. That would be 14dpo+1.

    (but I can't say that I wouldn't test early)

HSG is out of my system. It tests out of my by day 7. My period is due the 20th and I go like clockwork so we will know by this weekend I am sure! ;()

Blood work yesterday confirmed BFP! Let's hope this baby continues to grow and is healthy!
  • JJZFamilyJJZFamily Member Member
    OOooooooo congratulations!!! Amazing news! :)

We are FINALLY inseminating in the morning. I guess the meds completely threw my cycle off but, in actuality, it regulated it. We triggered yesterday, CD14, and will inseminate at 40 hours post trigger. My largest follicle at the time of the trigger was almost 17mm. Smaller than I think she would've liked, but still large enough to go ahead. I'm SUPER crampy this morning, so I'm hoping it's one final growth spurt before I ovulate. My TWW officially begins tomorrow.

Kerri - any news with you?

    - Juli

Juli- I got a BFN and aunt flo the same day. I go in tomorrow for the u/s to start round two. It was much more difficult than I thought it would be, getting the BFN. I guess I am still so hyper sensitive after the stillbirth of our son.

Question, I am interested for the sake of knowing...

Who here is single, hetero, and same-sex couples and locations?

We are obviously a same-sex couple based on our picture and we are in Atlanta.

So sorry Kerri :-( I don't think it will ever be easy to get a BFN. It seems to be getting harder every time for me. I go in Thursday for my u/s.

You know the answer to your question for me but for all the newer folks on the board my husband and I live in IL and have a very beautiful 2 1/2 year old son from this crazy process, I lost a set of twins last year and have been trying for about a year to get pregnant again after the mc.

Thanks for the congrats! 7-17 BetaHCG 15 7-20 BetaHCG 82... hopefully this means our little peanut is growing. I'm still sort of in shock that we are pregnant but so nervous something will go wrong. We live in KY and my husband is transgendered so I guess you'd consider us hetero with a little flare ;).
  • JJZFamilyJJZFamily Member Member
Kerri - I'm so sorry...I'm really pulling for you guys! :)

We are in Florida and we are a same-sex couple. We have a 7.5 year old son using a known donor. I haven't done IUIs with frozen sperm since 2004-2006 (no success then either). We are going to try this for a while and then possibly move on to a known donor if we aren't successful.

We just did our insemination this morning and my blood test is scheduled for Aug 4.

ETA: chaffinsl, I congratulated you on the other thread, but didn't want you to think I was ignoring your post above! :) CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm looking forward to the next update. :)

I'm sorry for your negative Kerri :( Will keep you in our prayers

My wife and I are a same sex couple. We just finished our 3rd natural IUI attempt. Our doctor encouraged us to take some clomid but we opted not to and thought we were being impatient if we did so. It resulted in a positive result for us.

Wishing everyone well and lots of positives to follow on this thread.

    Update:

    7/17 HCG 15
    7/20 HCG 82
    7/27 HCG 2700 :):)

No wonder I'm feeling like poop this baby is producing hormones like a maniac! I'm not complaining though, doc was happy- first ultrasound is Aug 7 @315 Est.

Whoa!!!! That's awesome!! Have you entered that into any fancy charts to see what the rise is? Wow, that's great!!!

Edited: Ok, I did it for you. LOL
Doubling time =1.4 days or 33.33 hours

    YAY!!

Hehe- awesome! I'm hoping that's a good sign! Anxious for our first ultrasound! I hope we have a heartbeat! We'll be almost 7 weeks. Doc dated us at 5 weeks 1 day yesterday.

I had my first IUI today with a natural cycle, let the 2ww begin!
  • JJZFamilyJJZFamily Member Member
    Good luck, AmandaMae!! :)

I'm finishing up my TWW. We will take a test at home on Monday morning, and I have my blood test Tuesday morning. I'm feeling very PMS though...lower back ache and mild heaviness in front.

While I am being realistic, I'm also reminded of when I was pregnant with my son in 2007, I JUST KNEW I was going to start my period the next day...and the next day, I got my very first EVER positive pregnancy test. So, although I feel incredibly PMS...I suppose there's still a chance.

BFN this morning with HPT - blood test tomorrow, but I'm pretty certain this cycle is a bust. I really didn't expect it to work the first time, so we are okay. Just ready for the next plan from the doctor.
  • janbabyjanbaby Senior Member Senior Member
Sorry for the negative JJZ. I am starting my 2ww today, keeping every part of my body that can cross crossed!
  • POT03005POT03005 Senior Member Senior Member
Back in the TWW. IUIs yesterday and today which are the exact days a year ago that I got pregnant with our son.

    Here's hoping.
